What would we do with Suzuki if we trade for Tucker?  He has to get moved then right?

You just rotate guys through DH

Betrz had a plan above, but Tucker can probably moonlight some CF, especially against tough lefites. He can play 1b. You do some movement and everyone gets some DH time.

If Tucker is cool moving around, which he has been in Houston, and Seiya is fine doing a good bit of DHing (while primarily playing RF) it feels doable.

Some pretty severe swing and miss issues, good glove, decent walks, too old for for his 140 wRC+ in AA to mean a lot. If they think they can alleviate some of those swing and miss issues, I don't hate it.

But technically isn’t that the same situation we have right now with Belli?

Yeah, while you wait for the next Suzuki defensive gaffe to put him back in the elite-hitting-DH-doghouse

I want him DH’ng and too.  I don’t understand how he expects to play the OF when he stinks out there

Can you give him a $20m signing bonus too? Make him a $35m guy for his purposes in 2025, but keep the luxury tax hit to arb number.

Signing bonuses count against cap.

Sure, at a $10 million premium and half the WAR.

Sure. But Tucker is better than Bellinger. So what you do is you add a better player to do the same thing. And someone you *hope* the Cubs earnestly look into locking up long term as opposed to Bellinger who leaves at the years' end.

Hoyer made some comments earlier today that they've spoken to Seiya about his position and that they expect he's a Cub. Wolfe, his agent said he's fine playing DH, but made it clear he doesn't only want to DH. So moving around seems to work.

I think his defensive struggles are more memorable/glaring (because they're usually just outrageous gaffes) than other poor defenders who just have no range, a bad arm, terrible reads, etc....stuff that adds up on bloop singles and extra bases and what not over the course of a year. His bat more than makes up for his defense and he's still a net positive out there. But....we have Happ, PCA, and some combination of Bellinger or Tucker. Seiya pushing any of those dudes to DH makes no sense.

His middle name is Tater. That's all the scouting report on him I need.

Dad probably wanted that to be his first name and had to settle with it being the middle.

Then for the sake of Mr. Workman, I shall hereby only refer to him as Tater.

They definitely should eat some of it. Especially if you are getting something even remotely valuable back. Dont let horsefeathers dollars be the hang up.

MLBTR has that…Interesting return for the White Sox, I still think Montgomery could have went 1 or 2 in the last draft np before the fracture

That's actually a sneaky good haul for the White Sox, if true.

Really curious what level of SP is in play if this happens.  Hoerner is presumably no longer available to be dangled, and Crochet is gone (plus doing Crochet and Tucker would have eviscerated the farm).  Can we manage a Cease?  Is a Luzardo about the right expectation?

I'm gonna guess it Sasaki or noone
