They did do that

I have to think we'll see more, no?  Maybe, try Scott in place of Allen? Sure, he's mistake prone however, he does add speed and really, at this point, what have they got to lose?

Whether Kyle wants to admit it or not, it's the coaching. The NFL's talent level is bunched up around the mean. The Curve is steep, and the standard deviation is narrow. Coaching is more important than in any other sport.

I don't think they will be making any changes.

This! Each team is blessed with elite athletes (some teams a little more than others, of course). But it's what you do with them that makes the difference between 10-6 and 6-10.

It's not that coaching doesn't matter. It's that fans obsess over it to a degree out of line with the level of impact.

Literally all anyone wants to talk about after a loss is coaching.  Maybe a smidge of QB panic.  Everything always could have been salvaged with a few "adjustments" (half of which they already tried, half of which wouldn't work).  The "game plan" is always wrong in some vague sense.

There is so much more to the issues than that.

The veteran receivers look inconsistent and Moore has a bad case of gotbagitis.

The offensive line is decimated.

The defense is entirely dependent on the health of a 28 year old DE.

Personally, if I said Peyton Manning didn't win anything in Denver, I would stop typing for a few hours.

I wouldn't say that coaches don't matter.  I would say that fans massively overestimate their impact, especially after anger-inducing losses.  They understand "adjustments" at the level Cosmo Kramer understands tax write offs.

I could go a long, long way down the list of reasons the Bears lost that game yesterday before I got to Eberflus and Waldron.

Key defensive starters hurt, offensive line decimated, veteran WRs showing their age, rookie QB having an inconsistent day (although I really didn't think he was terrible).

In the grand scheme of things I tend to agree with this, but when we've seen consistent issues with the process and managing the game from the HC and the things we're seeing are being called out by announcers and fans alike in real time, that where I think the coaching staff makes a difference.  Things like not getting up the refs ass for head shots on Fields the last 2 years or about the DBs manhandling receivers early yesterday, not having conversations about different things the refs are looking at closely (the Lewis false start yesterday), and just generally not having a good process for reviews/challenges are all process things that anyone who's decent at managing anything can see are problems.

Dj Moore walked off the field halfway through one of Caleb's crazy scrambled and sat on the bench while the play was still going.

I hate premature extensions so much

wait what?

edit:

Wow.  Injured or not that's a really really bad look

I promise you if we went to 31 other teams' fanbases, they'd have similar complaints about every single head coach in the league.  Including the ones you would think are untouchable like Reid or Tomlin

1) I didn't say "with new teams.".  All of those QBs had winning seasons virtually every year of their primes and deep into their declines, despite having several different head coaches.  They didn't just all coincidentally have good coaches every year.  It's insane how hard it is to get people to admit that the players on the field are the ones playing the game and deciding who wins and loses

2) jfc you're not derwood, I shouldn't have to link this

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/den/2015.htm

manning, brady, rodgers had 4 different heads coaches in total in their first 30 man-seasons in the nfl

They are also outliers you are trying to make a point with. When the Bears have a no-doubt hall of fame QB or any number of other teams who seem to win (Steelers) without them you may have a point. Obviously, you tend to go to poles on stuff like this. And it's not black and white. Coaching matters and it matters more when guys break into the league. It's not chicken or egg.

Manning and Rodgers didn't win anything, but the Steelers, who haven't won a playoff game since 2016 (right around the ultimate decline of a, at least borderline, HOF QB, are 'winning without them'.

This is something Eberflus should handle, don't know if he can hit Moore where it hurts - in the pocket book - but, there's go to be some sort of action taken.  If you're hurt, fine, go down on the field, no problem.  Walking off during the play shows a complete lack of respect for your team.

You can substitute any non-Cheifs team who consistently wins if you like.

It didn’t look like an injury to me although obviously I don’t know.

If sweat were healthy and Williams had another year of experience under his belt, we wouldn't be talking about any of this

Plus Billings.

I believe I read with the Moore play, he had stepped out of bounds already and cannot be the first to touch the ball and that in those instances sometimes players are coached to just go all the way out or fall down so as to not present themselves as a viable target.

The ref's hat is thrown to indicate he had stepped out.

I thought you could touch the ball as long as you've re-established yourself in the field of play with both feet.  We had the same issue on an interception by Brisker against the Rams and the rules analyst said that if he had gotten both feet back in bounds the interception would have been legal.

I pretty sure on offense you cant be the 1st to touch it

Even if that's the case, it's a bad look when the QB is scrambling and might need all hands on deck to block.
