Jalen Carter has a sack and 2 forced fumbles on MNF. He’s been one of the better defensive players in the entire league so far. Wright may end up being very solid and I get the character concerns with Carter and the argument that he had to be in a structure like Philly or whatever but Poles may have massively fucked up. Traded out of number 1 overall to 9th and still had the chance to draft the best non-QB in the draft.

The argument that this horsefeathers show of an organization is not the right spot for Carter is a knock against the GM and HC who are the reason this team couldn’t handle a talented but mercurial star.

We got a serviceable right tackle at the expense of getting a top 3 DT

maybe Kyle should be ignored and pff taken with the grain of salt

what a take, kyle

You know, I've found that there's absolutely no correlation between how hysterical you get at my takes and whether I end up being right in the long run. *shrug*

Yea, it's amazing how terrible they looked against KC, even expecting bad.  7-0 through 1 Q still felt like a insurmountable route. You could just see it.

They couldn't get a better bounce back slate than Denver-Washington. Then who knows what state Viking are in, but Raiders next after that, who also look weak.

After that, Carolina is only REALLY weak opponent on slate (though TBD how strong Arizona will stay as season drags on for a talent-stripped roster), but looking like the projections of weak overall schedule may bear out.  If they can go into mini bye at 2-3, a 6 win season looks attainable (which would still be considered a failure season to me, but probably wouldn't lead to compete FO overhaul or mid year firings)

Will be interesting to see the home crowd on Sunday. The booing will be quick to trigger and now I'm wondering if this team can even handle that.

I think there’s a decent chance they get booed coming out of the tunnel.

Carter would already be in trouble if he were in Chicago.

Just saw some tape of Wright handling Karlfkis pretty well, of course, I noticed Fields just hopping around and getting sacked.  There's no question the OL, as banged up as it is, has still managed to provide better pass blocking and, despite Getsy' fucked up scheme, receivers are open.  Fields simply refuses to throw the ball

Guys, it's the coaching staff, not Fields. My fantasy team is 3-0 with Fields as my starting QB. With that said, I'm as much a homer for Fields to be good as anyone, but boy..... it's getting really hard to defend at this point. 99 yards in a blowout game where garbage time yards are usually the easiest yards to get in a game ever, and 49 yards was the total passing yards for the second half. I felt like the OLine gave Fields a lot of time to throw and nothing came from it. Granted, KC did blitz a lot and it blew up plays pretty well, but to only have 22 pass attempts in a game you are losing badly early in the second quarter is mind blowing.

Darnell Wright shut down Chris Jones pretty well in that game. I think Jones' sack came from the other side.

Denver game is winnable, but not without most of their starting DB's playing.  I'm penciling in a loss for the Washington game. That front 4 will have a field day against our line, and with no pass rush, Howell will have the necessary time to look like a HOF QB.

Is Mooney broken? I seem to recall he pulled up lame sometime during the Tampa game and he had one target vs. KC.

One thing I'd like to see more snaps for "athletic freak" Gervon Dexter and Zacch Pickens, they probably both suck. But, might as well give them a shot at continuing to offer evidence that Poles is a poor at the draft.

I love how there is zero correlation between your takes and reality.  I mean, you don’t actually talk about the Bears with any other group do you? Certainly not in person, I’d hope

um....and yet hes doing saintly in the wholesome metropolis of......Philadelphia?

Well, you know, the city of brotherly love, Liberty Bell and all that, he's probably taking a daily jog to Museum of Art with all the kids.

For you defensive types out there what's the point of Eberflus playing a soft zone with a DL that can't even breath on, let alone touch a QB?

Also, "we don't have the right culture for Jalen" 15 months into your culture building isn't a great look. Especially because coming off 2021 wasn't even a toxic culture environment like in 2014.

Atrophying winning environment like in 2022 just sucked so bad. I never liked, but regrettably took a silver lining in tank tracking for #1 which just feels dumb now.

I mean there's no logical point. It's an adherence to an ideal that is pointless.

If they do fire Flus at some point mid-season, whichever assist draws up the most exotic blitz package gets the DC duties.

Carter's character issues were made up, the only thing that was a concern was him showing up out of shape to his pro day. But if that was really an issue, why they let Davis do the same damn thing for the actual nfl season is bonkers. Not taking a generational talent at DT when your choice of defenses is the Cover 2 was ignorant. Drafting Wright was just follow through on a poor decision, it had nothing to do with why they didn't take Carter
