Still not getting why, at the very least, Getsy remains a Bears coach.  Your embattled QB is playing well, finally, looking like a competent passer and you take the ball out of his hands on the most crucial play of the game?  How could Fields not be totally enraged?  I really hope, should a similar opportunity arise in the future, that Fields will horsefeathers this horsefeathers and takes matters into his own hands.  Most especially if it's Getsy again calling for some BS short-yardage play.

I don't think they were ever going to make a coaching change before a Thursday game.  Even if Getsy sucks it really disrupts things on a short week.

I think whats not being said is that kicking a FG would have meant trusting your D to make a stop, which the Bears D hasnt done in a year. Any ply by the offense had a better chance at success them the D would have had against Denver

I think you kick the field goal and if you lose, at least you can be mad at the defense (who cares), and Fields and the offense can feel good about the final drive.

This is where my brain is now, managing the psychological make up of our QB, not winning games really

I always assume that in a situation like that, 4th and 1 to close the game out, that the Head Coach is involved in the play call. They likely have four or five "go to" plays there, and to me the Head Coach should be the one deciding how the game turns out.

I can see the "trust your coordinator" argument, maybe they are already aligned philosophically pre game, but if I'm Eberflus making that call I wouldn't make it by saying, "take your pick," I'd say something like "QB Sneak", "QB sweep",

I mean they took a time out, so there is plenty of time for Getsy and Flus to discuss the play call. To me the play is on Eberflus more than Getsy

Most definitely it's probably on Eberflus. In general, their short yardage plays are for horsefeathers, either Eberflus and Getsy are trying to, in the words of JT, "trick'em and dick'em" or they really don't know what they're doing.

After Getsy is let go, the next guy is will come in and say let's keep throwing the ball to DJ Moore and, it'll be a horsefeathers revelation.

I mean, to be fair, if you do put the ball in his hands, there's a decent chance the defense takes it out.

Not sure I will ever be comfortable with him in a 2 minute offense to lead a GW. His career 4th quarter numbers are unbelievbly bad. 48 rating when trailing and less than 2 min/ 2:6 with 8 sacks. 14 of his 26 career picks are in the 4th.
