I just googled it and found nothing. What was it about?

This isn't about any gripe Teheran has, but it is another data point that he might be available. From Rosenthal:

Two rival executives said Wednesday that the Braves are open to trading right-hander Julio Teheran — “quite open,” was how one put it.

However, a source with knowledge of the Braves’ thinking said that the team is not even considering such a move, explaining that Teheran is only 24, in the second year of a club-friendly six-year, $32.4 million contract and part of a deep crop of young pitchers the club worked hard to assemble.

All of that makes sense, but it’s not unusual for clubs to deny that a player is available until the moment he is traded. The Braves did just that during the offseason with Evan Gattis and Craig Kimbrel. Teheran’s age and contract make him attractive to other clubs as well as the Braves, despite his 4.53 ERA.

Team plans are subject to change – and sometimes vary according to a player’s performance. Teheran, in fact, is reversing his regression from earlier this season — he matched his career-high with 11 strikeouts against the Dodgers on Wednesday, and has pitched to a 2.81 ERA in his last four starts.

What if the Braves could trade Teheran for multiple pitching prospects and/or a young catcher?

Surely they would consider such a deal. Surely Teheran is not untouchable.

It looks to me like they need hitting much more than pitching moving forward. I wonder if McKinney/Contreras/Johnson would work for them on Teheran?

I want Tulowitzki....wonder if he can play 2B?

Also, no one should be listening to/citing Gordon Wittenmeyer.

You wonder if he can play 2b?

If all signs point to Tulo regressing and this year is a coming sign of that, then I understand. But if it's an outlier it's easier to keep Tulo at SS, where he's played 1,100+ consecutive games at the position (in fact he's never played another position in his entire professional career), and keep Russell at 2B, where he's performing exceedingly well on defense.

@Ken_Rosenthal: #Indians, though, not inclined to move a starter; would need huge return. #BlueJays made big push for Carrasco. Didn’t get done.

I wonder if he could swing 1b.

If the Phillies are only "lukewarm," or whatever was reported a few days ago, on Baez and Castro, then I don't see a match with them. We're not trading Schwarber, and the farm system is overrated now with a Single-A shortstop and a corner outfielder without exciting power as the two best trade chips remaining.

Rosenthal says the Orioles are considering selling. They're a less extreme version of the Tigers, several key guys are going to be FA(Davis, Wieters, Chen) and they're longshots to make the playoffs(15% per Fangraphs). Go get Gausman.

His youth/cost control is gonna make the O's very picky on moving him. I'm sure they're 'open' to dealing him, don't see it happening however.

Then where in the hell would Schwarber play???

I would love to see Castro and a B prospect like Johnson for Gausman, but I assume the O's would want a lot more than that.

Hearing some buzz about Mike Leake as a rental target, and that might be realistic. Leake might be the best second-tier starter on the market, and the cost shouldn't be astronomical.

If the O's are selling and set to lose a bunch of FAs - why not Adam Jones? Chen would be a quality rental. Don't see the match in Gausman.

Castro or Torres (whomever they like better), McKinney, Zagunis, Vogelbach and whoever they like best of PJ, CJ, Underwood for Jones, Hardy and Gausman?

That might get Hardy and Gausman depending on Howrah salary they need to shed. Adam Jones is the most popular player in Baltimore and they should be competitive next year.

As long as we're looking to raid the Orioles, why not try for Chris Tillman? He's been 200+ innings the last two years, is 27, and would probably lock down that 5th starter spot.

The Orioles have apparently just tried to extend him without success, may be willing to take a package instead.

He's no rental, but should still cost less than Gausman and Bosio's already shown great success in fixing Baltimore's pitching messes.

The Orioles believe they're still in the window, so anyone we send would need to be close to or at the majors, with control. CF, 3B, SS, C, RF have all produced this year for them according to fangraphs, and their 1B prospect, while not close, seems like a decent bet for success; they have some That leaves the Orioles looking for DH, LF, maybe 2B, and for upper-end pitching talent (they are dry after Bundy and Hunter Harvey in class-A).

To that end, is a package of Vogelbach plus Johnson or Underwood for Tillman a decent starting point for conversation?

Tillman isn't good and has not been good. He gets completely carried by Baltimore's elite defense. 4.25,4.42,4.01 and 4.13FIPs the last 4 years.

I really want Hamels and Zobrist. I'd be willing to trade anyone in the minors, as long as the Cubs were able to keep:

1 of Torres/McKinney

Duane Underwood

Dylan Cease

1 of Sands/Steele

Arrieta had poor FIPs with the Orioles, too. So does the rental Chen; so does Gausman (4.46 this year).

The Orioles' pitching philosophy seems to mandate heavy fastball use: Gausman, Arrieta, Strop, Chen, Bedard, and Tillman have ALL thrown between 60% and 70% fastballs in *every* year they got meaningful time with the Orioles; the lone exception being the year Bedard through fewer than 60% and was traded (for Tillman and Jones) in the offseason.

The Orioles are known to have weird ideas about pitching; remember Dylan Bundy being told to shelf his cutter and throw more sliders for his health?

We solved the goofy pitching philosophy problem for Arrieta, and as a prospect Tillman was more highly rated going into the 2009 season.

In short: The Orioles have no idea how to get a pitcher to pitch, we can fix that problem, and Tillman is likely quite valuable to us in that circumstance. Let's get him.

Also of note: Orioles fans at least seem to have tired of him. He really may come decently cheap.

I'm going to just gently toss this out there, because why the hell not: Mike Olt and PJ Francescan for Jedd Gyorko.

Not sure if Gyorko's fallen quite as hard as Olt, but he's getting there. So I figured we'd throw in something fringey, and Francescan's the first thing that came to mind; nice numbers, Rule 5 eligible, a text book Rule 5 pick, but probably not worth protection unless there were spots to spare.

If our FO traded every guy who Cubs fans tired of, our roster would consist of Kyle Schwarber, Jake Arrieta, and maybe Jason Hammel.
