Don't you people watch Thursday night NFL?

The NFL needs to do away with that crap. Horrible games with crappy coverage. I watch college football on ESPN on Thursday night unless the Bears are playing.

Well this weeks game wasn't so awesome, but I think the coverage is second only to NBC. ESPN gets docked for Gruden.

I hate the coverage. And the HD (at least for me) isn't as pretty as any of the other networks.

For me it's NBC >>>>>>> ESPN (I'm fine with Gruden) >>>>> CBS/FOX>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>NFLN

Mayock is really good, though. I just don't pay much attention to most commentating, I guess. I'm more about the picture quality, camera angles, and sound and stuff. Nice shots of Chicago for home games are a bonus.

It can't be Plesac can it?

Given how much he talks, it would cancel out Kasper.

Hollandsworth is awful.

Sutcliffe is tolerable compared to those two.

Never really paid attention to Karros.

I'm sure whomever gets selected I won't like that much but I didn't really like Brenly at first either than he turned out to be not awful.

Stuttering, stammering Hollandsworth is actually getting an interview? For what reason?

I think Hollandsworth is probably more of a courtesy interview than anything else. I have a feeling we're going to end up with Plesac, which isn't the worst case scenario, but is certainly far from the best. This is really a pretty pathetic list of finalists.

I feel like Sutcliffe has to be in the lead if he is actually willing to interview, given how hard they've tried to get him in the past.

Still hopeful it ends up being Karros.

Considering the concerns that have popped up with Sut and booze, and the fallout from the disgrace of Grace, I wouldn't be surprised if they've cooled quite a bit on Sutcliffe.

If true, count me in as liking Jim Deshaies as the best of the remaining bunch, then Karros.

I know absolutely nothing about him.

Would be nice to hear what smart Astros fans think of him.

FanGraphs

4. Houston Astros

Broadcasters: Bill Brown and Jim Deshaies

Ratings (Charisma/Analysis/Overall): 4.3, 4.1, 4.2

Three Reader Comments

• “FanGraphs and other analytical blogs have been mentioned on the broadcast before. While the team may suck the Houston fan base is lucky to have such a good broadcasting crew to get through the season.”

• “We, as Astros fans, are lucky to have these guys. They can be quite funny and informative at times. Maybe not the sharpest at play by play, but very entertaining.”

• “They are the only reason I will watch the Astros lose over 100 games again this coming season.”

Notes

There won’t have been any particularly compelling reasons for non-fans to have sought out Astro games of late, so the reader is excused if he hasn’t seen this broadcast team at work. Note, however, that the comments for Brown and (especially) Deshaies are almost uniformly gushing.

I like.

I like Deshaies based on what little I've listened to Astros' broadcasts in the past. He'd probably get along well with Len.

Deshaies would be excellent, and is my very clear favorite of the remaining names.

Based on that fangraphs post, I'd have to agree.
