Kaplan was on WGN radio just a little while ago and said that the Cubs were "approaching a deal" with Matsui. No word on the length or money of the contract.

I mentioned this earlier but if it takes this deal(I don't like the years involved) to get Kosuke in a cub uniform I'm in favor of it, and I hope its at second and DeRosa moves over to SS. If not and Derosa stays at 2B i hope in ST we have competition at SS with Cedeno Kaz and Theriot...

There is no type C anymore, so I'm not sure what to call Matsui. He's not an A or a B (remember, each of the categories were made more exclusive this year, so there's actually only a few infielders at all classified as an A or a B).
