Pretty sure they will be fine. I am sure if they lose it won’t be because they went to Churchill Downs the day before. Racing starts at 5PM. So didn’t have to be a late night.

So will Burns be on a pitch count? Three innings each of his last two start (roughly 50 pitches). The start before that was against the Cubs, and he threw 100 pitches....but in only 5 2/3 innings. With only one more start for Burns after today, I think Francona lets him go until near 100 again.

I just meant it looked like a great team event. It’s 2 hours away from Cincinnati, but I doubt anyone’s feeling the effects today,

Pretty sure it's an inning restriction. He pitched 3 innings last two starts and one of them was against LA and he gave up nothing in that game.

Yeah I haven't seen an official statement but seems like they're actively tapering him down now that they're out of it.  I'd be surprised if he's much above that 50 pitch mark again today.

From what it sounds like, the 2016 Cubs went out til 4 AM every night getting hammered drunk and still won it all so I sure as heckfire don't mind the 2026 Cubs getting drunk and watching horsies on their off day.

The AL playoff bracket is insane.  One of the ALCS teams is likely going to come from one of these 3 teams:

Astros (77-76)

Guardinans (78-75)

White Sox (78-75)

 

While the other team will come from one of these 3 teams:

I hadn't realized just how bad Ke'Bryan Hayes was this season. He has an OPS+ of 21, which is one of the worst marks of all time, and in 89 games played he has 8 RBI, which seems hard to even do on purpose.

The Cubs bullpen allowed the 5th fewest runs in the 2nd half.  The fWAR is the 5th worst.
