Cubs Video
The Chicago Cubs were pretty good defensively at the MLB level. They also have some good defenders on their way up.
First baseman Josiah Hartshorn, North Side Baseball's No. 1 prospect, was named a minor-league Gold Glove winner on Sunday. Minor-league Gold Gloves go to the best defender at their position regardless of level.
The 19-year-old Hartshorn, a sixth-round draft choice in 2025 who made his pro debut this season, played at three levels in 2026—Low-A Myrtle Beach, High-A South Bend and Double-A Knoxville—and made just five errors in 440 chances at first base for a .989 fielding percentage. He also played 31 games in right field and 27 games in center without an error.
Hartshorn had a slash line of .284/.407/.518 with 23 homers, 112 RBIs and 17 stolen bases in 125 games.
