Oy. The Cubs are in freefall. But today, they have Ben Brown on the hill, and the Pirates don't exactly strike fear into the hearts of men unless Paul Skenes is on the mound.

A couple weeks ago they had the best record in baseball, now they're 2 games out of last place in the division and a half a game away from missing the playoffs entirely if the season ended today.

For me the most frustrating aspect of this slump is watching the Cubs swing through or roll over the plethora of meat balls they've seen.  I guess that's the definition of a slump.  We know it's not going to last forever, at some point, Bregman, Suzuki and Happ are going to positively regress.  For our sake, I hope it's soon.

Update on my kid's roller coaster of emotions in his first season following baseball:  he think's its a night game today and I haven't corrected him yet because I know he'll waste this beautiful day getting upset about baseball if he knows.

I know the old timers who have posted with me for 20 years think this is karma for me lol

Happ and Swanson back in the lineup,  Suzuki and Hoerner out.

Ramirez at 2B, still no Jaguar

Wicks starts tomorrow

Amaya is starting, which is good, because Ben is another guy who pitches better with Amaya.  They should just let Amaya catch for Shota and Ben, and Kelly for the rest.  Rea seems to pitch better with Kelly.

Haven’t had the time to pay attention to the Cubbies. Watched yesterday’s highlights, and it’s definitely not looking good entering this series. Cool to see Pedro Ramirez get his first hit, though.

Can Alex Cohen snap them out of their current skid?

He started it, so he should end it.😁

Why do I have this overwhelming feeling of “same horsefeathers different day?”

It’s like Groundhog’s Day with this team the last 14 games
