We'll have to win the game 2, because Sasaki pitches, and he sucks.  Then, if we can get another win, that would be great.

What makes Dodgers starter in game one so great? Why can’t the Cubs win that one. And then Shota faces Wrobleski on Sunday. Again, why is that advantage Dodgers?

The Dodgers SP in game 1 isn't good.  You're right.  The Cubs could win that one.  But, they need to fly to LA today, Thielbar got hurt, and Assad just pitched 3 days after he started.  The bullpen situation is tough.  We used five of them today.  They're getting tired, and I think it won't be easy to win tomorrow.

Like I said, if we win 2 out of 3 in LA, that'd be great.  Are you expecting a sweep?  It could happen, and that'll be great.  But, not easy to do.  The Dodgers offense hasn't been great lately, so we do have good chance of winning 2 games, but I'd be surprised, if they sweep LA.  Oh, wait.  That would be awesome.  12 wins in a row.😁

Rockies Trade Nicky Lopez To Cubs

April 23rd, 2026 at 5:59pm CST • By Anthony Franco

The Rockies announced they’ve traded minor league infielder Nicky Lopez to the Cubs for cash. He was on a minor league contract and will not immediately occupy a 40-man roster spot for Chicago.

After first loss to Phillies things weren’t looking to hot but 6 straight Ws against them is nice. Assume that’s the season series

I went to that game. Apparently whatever I did broke the Cubs out of their funk. Maybe it was my Jon Lieber jersey.

No, I’m not expecting a sweep. But your comment was kind of doom and gloom. We have to win game 2 and hope for another. As if the others weren’t possible. The pitching match ups aren’t bad. But that said, doesn’t mean I expect to win them all. Hard to “expect” a win in any match up. I just don’t think game 1 and 3 are any less likely than game 2.

Is there an injury in Iowa or are we that much in love with Nicky Lopez?

I mean, he doesn't come with a 40-man requirement so it's whatever. Just curious.

Probably not having much faith in Kingery defense , cant be a coincidence after yesterday game 🤷

Is he better than Kingery? It is a low bar to be the 26th man. Maybe he clears it?🤷

Early season, somewhat irrational tangent, but it's going to be really annoying when Ballesteros doesn't win ROY because they keep pulling him out of every damn game so he doesn't get enough PAs to really accumulate the stats.

Also, yes I'm aware he didn't start today because lefty, but at some point just let him hit.

He can do some of the smartest and dumbest things I have ever seen on a baseball field

And sometimes the dumbest things, like running back towards home instead of to first after putting a ball in play, turns out to be one of the smartest plays. Of course, you have to be playing against a low IQ team for that.

I still cant believe that actually happened everytime I see the replay, you'd think someone would of yelled to the firstbasemen to just go to the bag or throw it if second basemen was there.

Got it.  I meant more like I think game 2 is the easiest to win, so we need to win that one.  Then, win one of the game 1 or 3.

Really I rate all match ups similar. Sheenan has an era at almost 6. Sasaki isn’t great either. There best pitcher facing the Cubs, faces Shota. Hard to beat the Dodgers, especially in LA. But I feel the cubs have an equal chance in each game. No obvious pitching advantage.

Maton is expected to pitch with the Iowa Cubs on Friday and could return to the big-league club’s bullpen as early as this weekend in Los Angeles. Harvey is going to start his throwing program again Friday, and the Cubs are optimistic that Palencia’s stint on the injured list will be minimal.

The organization also expects Trent Thornton to get in minor-league games this weekend. The veteran righty tore his Achilles tendon last season and has been slowly working his way back. Adding more depth options would be incredibly important for a team that could really use more trusted relievers.

Doesn't mention Roberts but considering his injury presumably he'll be back on Monday after the 15 day minimum as well.

Pretty sure Kingery will be replaced by Lopez. Those defensive gaffs were unacceptable in his limited time on the field. Dansby seemed overly annoyed at him and we need the good players to not be overly annoyed and risking mistakes because they can't trust Kingery.

If we go 3-3 in our next 6.....I'll be ecstatic.
