I don't love our biggest splash FA-wise being a Safety, but we'll see. Hendrickson got $190 million at age 32 and I don't love that either.

Free agency is tough because you are by definition overpaying for people, and usually people after their prime.

You can get Edges and D-Tackles in the draft. Get the right couple of guys.

I like all the lower cost/short term hole plugging they're doing.  I think this draft lines up with their needs pretty well, too.

Still interested to see how they address LT, though.

What was the plan if they won the bid for Crosby with $35 million less to spend and without the 25th pick where you’re expecting your rookie to start day 1? How much money can they restructure?

Ok, this guy might actually be very good. If we can somehow hold onto Byard I really like our secondary+linebackers.

I'm seeing on another site that the tweet they mentioned on Rich Eisen about the Bears offering two firsts was fake.

Did you fall for another fake account? I don’t see this anywhere.

Bush is a former top 10 pick. I know LB's are meaningless, but still, lots of talent

Twitter is not a source. Stop treating it as one.

Yeah, the problem is actual journalists need to follow this rule too.

Played at Michigan, can't be all that bad and is quite probably an upgrade over Edmunds.

Plus, such a move is too horsefeathers stupid, even for Poles.

Unreal. And that doesn't affect the Falcons, right? Like, what was the purpose for them designating him that way?

If the Falcons can designate him that way and then move him as GM to another team next year for the 2x 3rd round picks, then that is incredible horsefeathers.

Why would they want to do that? If he's good at his job he's worth 10x more than a couple late 3rds.

Yeah I don’t think the falcons did anything devious here.

Cunningham got a title promotion, presumably a raise, and is said to be the lead decision maker for the falcons. Why this doesn’t result in comp picks for the bears is beyond me, but not sure I buy the Falcons were angling to screw the Bears.

The NFL has blame here, but it's not isolated and in a vacuum, or random. The most significant stakeholder org on diversity matters that the league works with, Fritz Pollard Alliance, was specifically taking issue with these Ryan type roles falling outside of the diversity rules.

Insert NFLs solution :  Matt Ryan is Primary Exec. This placates issue one, and since no team blocked the GM request, we'll see if FPA takes any issue with the GM being secondary exec. My sense would be no, but we'll see. I dint think FPA cares about the picks.

But my gripe with NFL is really two fold. (1) Letting Tennessee get out of questions last year about a similar structure, and arguably sweeping under rug that they promoted Brinker without a search, and (2) not proactively expanding scope to address this and instead addressing it by looping it into existing rules.

But Bears knew what was happening the entire time. If they thought after the fact appeals would be effective, they are foolish. I don't take issue with how they handled, but realistically it just was never gonna end up in picks.
