This cat they traded for at C has a PFF rating of 30th out of 44 Centers. But he gave up zero sacks in 624 pass play snaps. I don't know how a guy would grade out 30th out of 32 starters with zero sacks given up, but I'm going to trust the decision makers don't put much stock in PFF grades.

He can’t run block for horsefeathers and he played in a garbage division so it wasn’t that hard to not give up sacks against that schedule. But then he did in the playoffs once he faced decent opponents

he’s a bad starting center you can try to hide between quality guards, or hopefully replace with a younger guy and use him for depth

What’s the best resource for individual lineman stats? Is there one? I see things posted all the time about this lineman or that giving up no sacks and I have no idea how to contextualize that. Like, obviously giving up zero sacks in the regular season is a good thing, but what’s a good benchmark for a center? 3? 4? No idea.

The top lines in football last year allowed 25-35 sacks. If you figure a disproportionate number of sacks come from the edge, you gotta figure sacks given up by centers is typically pretty low to the point of even zero having the potential to be noisy.

I’m going to trust there was a reason the afc champs were willing to give up their starting center with a $3.7 million cap hit for a future 5th.

I mean their left guard and left tackle got far more abused in the Superbowl than the center did. I thought I remembered reading Will Campbell gave up a record amount of QB pressures.

I'm somewhere between whelmed and underwhelmed by the Bradbury pick up. The one plus is gives the Bears a lot more flexibility with which to use their remaining resources now.

The defense could easily be worse

They were like the 27th ranked Defense. It cannot be worse.

When both of their 20 million dollar linebackers were out D'Marco Jackson came in and immediately looked better than either of them. I really, purely cannot believe they can look worse.

I'm fully prepared to have this be quoted at me next year, and make me look like a fool. And I invite it.

I don’t know how this pertains to what I posted. They had a center on a cheap deal that started every game of the season. They decided they’d rather have a future 5th than roll with him for another season. That says a lot, regardless of what their LG and LT did.

I read that their third round pick last year is a natural center that they played out of position this past season and they wanted to open the spot up for him.

Makes sense, but Bradbury makes swing IOL money and isn’t very good. I’m still hoping the Bears draft a C and the plan is for Bradbury to keep the seat warm for the first portion of the season.

Bradburys run grade was also better when he played in a zone scheme with Vikings.

Between that and being sandwiched between Jackson and Thuney this is just a practical pickup.  The draft capital is a little rich, but they've shown an ability to pick up these types of picks and recoup.

Reportedly we have called Philly about Jalen Carter

Well that's a horrific idea unless he's severely discounted

The asking price has to be at least a first? He's a nutjob

A first? God no, like I'm legitimately not sure I'd do a third. That guy might completely destroy the locker room vibe.

On potentially messing up the locker room vibe, might happen, if they let him.  I find it hard to believe the other strong personalities on the Bears are going to let Carter do anything of that sort.  This is all academic since he'll never be a Bear.

Smart move, he was playing on the same level as Edmunds (or even better) and he's like 20 million dollars cheaper.

This account also said Taron Johnson has announced his retirement even though the Bills just traded him to the Raiders.

I want Jackson back but I am going to wait for something more legitimate.

Olamide Zaccheaus going to Atlanta.

Must be a decent size deal to get him off board quick. Maybe Bears will enter comp pick territory for 2027.

Cunningham trying to get us comp picks any way he can, lol
