Could Cubs Turn To Adley Rutschman To Upgrade Catching?

Why do people keep trying to upgrade catcher when they're already a top 10 team there?

The Cubs aren't keeping 3 catchers on the roster, are you booting Miguel Amaya and his 103 wRC+ to AAA? Actually, I think Amaya is out of options, so is he getting traded?

Stupid idea. 

This would have been a good idea going into this past off-season, when Rutschman's value was at an all-time low and Amaya was coming off of a down year.  It's not happening now.  Cubs need to focus on pitching.

I also doubt the Orioles are selling, having won 7 of their last 8 games.  

The Cubs also have done a really good job of developing catchers internally, and have a really promising guy in Owen Ayers who should be ready next season.

It's not even like there are long-term concerns at the position. They're fine.

let's see if we can upgrade in cf and rf too

Miggy had a great season last year, until he got hurt.  He was an RBI machine, and I think his wRC+ was over 120.  If I remember correctly, his average with RISP was close to .500 with wRC+ over 200.  Knowing he was healthy again, why would the Cubs trade him in the off season?

He's not as good this year, though he's healthy.

Either way, trading for a catcher doesn't make sense at all.

Yeah, you are right.  I should have said that Miggy had an injury riddled year instead of a down year.  He's always been solid when healthy.  

3B is the spot if we really want an offensive upgrade 

I like this idea a lot. For the right price, why not. It makes moises even more tradable. Don’t need to bring back Carson Kelly for a third year. Amaya is usually a lock to miss some time. If it doesn’t work than Owen ayers should be ready soon.

 So you're going to roster 3 catchers for the rest of the year and just hope Amaya gets hurt?
