They get a taste of success and go from lovable losers to Philly.

Their pass rush clobbers Caleb on the head and they boo for 15 minutes even though the game was already won.  I didn’t think it was possible to start hating a city’s fans so quick.

I used to work at a company that hired a lot of people from Western Michigan and they were all Detroit fans and they were so unbelievably obnoxious.  I think there's an inferiority complex going on there.

Fun

Think we'll see the switch to Monangai/Johnson pretty soon also, believe the running game will incrementally improve if the line stays in place.

Haven't won squat, not even been to a SB and may not even make this year.  Won't be surprised if meathead in chief costs them in the playoffs again.

Why is Warren the consensus immediate impact player?  Loveland had 3 years of production at Michigan vs 1 for Warren.  His shoulder injury kept him out of OTAs but he participated in all of training camp and was on the field with the 1's during practices and both preseason games they played in.  He left when the 1's left in those games.  It doesn't seem like the injury did not set him back a ton when it came to preparing for the season based on usage.

I know you hate Michigan and all that but perhaps wait more than 2 games before using your confirmation bias to proclaim definitively how stupid the pick was. The entire offense is a work in progress and Caleb has historically not been great at throwing to TEs.  Kmet had his lowest production since his rookie year last year and had 5 total targets his last 5 games of 2024 despite playing 93% of the snaps.  His leading TEs at USC caught 26 passes and 10 passes in 2023 and 2022 (vs. 54 for Loveland last year in 10 games).  I highly doubt Warren has 11 catches for 155 yards in his first 2 games if he was drafted by the Bears.

I don’t know why Warren was thought of as being better pre draft, but he was in every mock draft and analysis I read.

As memory serves, health was one of the big factors for Warren being ranked ahead of Loveland, but most prognosticators had them roughly within 5-10 spots of each other.  Loveland was also seen as more of a project since he was a stretch the field type of TE, whereas Warren was more in the Cole Kmet mold (which people mentioned as a possible justification for taking Loveland over Warren).

This draft was also really muddled where the Bears were picking, since the top 3 OTs were off the board, Graham was popped earlier than expected, and Jeanty went to the Raiders.  There wasn't an obvious slam dunk pick there.

I kinda think this debate misses the mark, though, since 3 out of the 6 healthy inactives yesterday consisted of two 2025 2nd round picks and the 2024 3rd round pick (which was the Bears' third pick in the draft).  You can justifiably debate Loveland/Warren either way,  even in retrospect, but those guys should at least be suited up at this point of the season given how high they were selected.

Johnson is absolutely terrible and Monengal is one of the least athletic RB in the league. Tough sledding.

So the Bears are like, monumentally bad, like so bad we may be the worst team in the league huh.

dont love that

watched some footage of the Vikings and I feel vindicated on my McCarthy read (he’s terrible) but it just indicates that the Bears are unbelievably worse than expected. Cool

He wasn't good but that line they had in front of him by the end of the game last night was as bad as any the Bears have assembled.

Im not sure Penix was any better, Atlanta just had a consistent running attack and he was more protected

Not a great look to bring a guy back from injury and have him immediately reinjure that same body part to the extent that surgery is required.

Maybe there was no getting around the fact that it was going to eventually require surgery no matter how long they waited to get him back on the field.

Somebody on the team’s training staff has to get fired over this

The McCaskey, Kevin Warren, and Ryan Poles stink on this organization is so strong. And George McCaskey said he isn’t selling the team until Jesus comes back. Somebody put a fake Jesus in the sky this week.

I didn't want to be that specific but isn't it at least some of their responsibility to get the team to week 1 healthy?  That has to be part of the job right?

Johnson is now out “indefinitely.”

I know it the remainder of this season hopefully, and I know it's the Bears, "indefinitely" doesn't mean next season as well.

Darn if only the Charlie Kirk prophecies came true. (just kidding, stay dead)

FWIW Johnson just had a press conference and he said the groin injury is unrelated to the previous groin injury (which...lol)

They can’t be blamed for Johnson not being 100% going into week 1. They could share some blame for him being activated prematurely

Yes, the latter is what I had been saying

I have to think there was a horsefeathers-ton tests and imaging that suggested everything was a go.
