FWIW Johnson just had a press conference and he said the groin injury is unrelated to the previous groin injury (which...lol)

And if that's the case, I have bigger concerns.  Like, why does this guy's groin keep exploding?

I have to think there was a horsefeathers-ton tests and imaging that suggested everything was a go.

Probably, but I’m not sure the people on the bears who read those test results and images are qualified to do so

I've yet to comment on this game. To say I was disappointed is putting it mildly. A friend from Michigan came down to watch the games with me this weekend, and while I normally feel for Lions' fans as being more miserable than Bears' fans, his joy and emotion in watching his team destroy the Bears just made me want to show him the door. But, it was a 7 hour drive and it was only 3 hours in what was a pretty good visit otherwise.

I generally prefer a little hope mixed in with my misery early in a football season. Don't give me the bad news until the season is half over, so to speak. My homerism kinda needs a little support when most of everything I read is negative towards every aspect of the organization. NFL is my game. It's the sport I love more than any other, even if this is a Cubs baseball site. I want my team to do good. I don't switch teams. I've been a Bears fan since the earliest of '70's.

Yesterday told me this season is already over for the Bears. They might win some games, but this team is not going to have a winning record or go to the playoffs, and I guess I might as well let that sink in now and not drag out the pain.

Too many negatives to list to dwell any further. Beat the Cowboys you ass clowns.

Honestly, I never thought the playoffs were a realistic goal for this team.  What is a realistic goal is Caleb and the offense starts to click around mid-season and the Bears are competitive the last quarter of season maybe, even a playoff spoiler for someone on their schedule.  I still believe this can very much happen.

Dak is going to have a party next week.  It's going to be butt ugly.  Maybe Caleb can impress.  That's all I'm hoping for.  Bears will lose by at least two touchdowns, more likely three.  48-27 Cowboys.

Wouldn't be surprising if they have some kind of a bounce back game on defense either, I'm not talking about winning or the like.  Just not be the total sieve they were vs. Lions, no WRers without a Bears defender in the area code, etc.

I know I saw it somewhere, the Lions offense pre and post the Bears losing  their two best defenders.  Pre injuries the Bears were doing okay, forced some punts and were not getting rolled. With all of these over the top reactions did one ever consider it was a perfect storm for the Lions?  There isn’t a team in football that can overcome losing their two best defenders in the same game.  Add in a motivated Lions team and it was recipe for the disaster we saw. I’m certain the Lions win without the Bears’ injuries on defense.  And I’m certain the Lions don’t score 50+ points under those  circumstances.

No pass rush, a mediocre defense to begin with, and then losing your best two defenders

Most definitely, at best, a mediocre defense, I like that Ben Johnson didn't use the injuries as an excuse.  Regardless of their very big impact.
