First off, you're in love with this "coddling" word.  It's not coddling, it's management.  The guy isn't helping the team right now, and we need to win games.  Seiya got benched for a few games...last year?  Year before??  I forget now...but he came back and started hitting.  It's not coddling to let someone get their head right.  Baseball is as mental as it is physical.  What works for one player doesn't necessarily work for everyone.

Good valid point, Banedon. Can’t argue that - I love how you called me out with the “coddling” usage lol. Kudos to you for that too. I admit, it was overused quite a bit today. I do hope the guy gets his head right and comes out and hits like we all know he can.
I appreciate the comment and feedback, as well as the call out 🤟🏼

He’s most likely hurt

Good point, Wilson. That would make more sense than, “struggling mightily” which is evident.

Jed gambled that he had a viable 3B and enough starters to get the job done. Since the deadline Shaw is a top hitter in the league and the rotation has the best ERA. What could he have done to prevent 5 guys going from 850 OPS to 500?

This message board is full of managers, hitting coaches, pitching experts, and roster architects. We even have a guy from Philly! He should absolutely use this place as his measuring stick.

I am a Cubs fan who happens to live near Philly, yes sir. What some of the simpletons on this forum failed to understand is that I referenced hiw Philly fans react to their players when they lack hustle and production. They’re relentless. Not supporting it - simply stating that the boo birds are a part of the game, and if Tucker can’t handle that it’s going to be rough for him in certain cities. Chicago fans are usually pretty forgiving, but they’re frustrated. That’s all my friend - that’s the measuring stick, guy

I deserve it often times so I get it lol - one guy called me out on using the word coddling too much - he was right in doing so! It was getting g out of hand 😂

Now what will I do for the rest of the day? I know, send a strongly worded email to the Chicago Cubs asking why they extended horsefeathers Jed Hoyer.

Blow and strippers is always an answer.

Maybe get one of the strippers to take his at-bats for a few games. Would at least be entertaining.

Maybe she, or he, could swing the lumber better. Wouldn’t take much, sadly.

He says this NOW during the Brewers series?   Everyone should have been rested up and ready to go for this series.  How are they this stupid?  Counsell isn't a fool, and yet here we are...

Caissie looked really bad today on everything not a fastball.   He looks like he's playing t-ball up there and looking for fastball over the heart of the plate to drive.   That's not going to play.

I would imagine its not a fatigue thing and more of a “literally anything is better than a combination of 4 weak flyballs and groundouts to 1B” thing. You have to figure they wanted to see some signs of life, anything at all, before giving him some rest and that just never happened.

He had half of our hits and we had no hard contact. The whole lineup looked like dog horsefeathers when they actually swung the bat.

Changeups are killing the offense, especially the LHB.
