Thats how it started though in 2017. They fell apart and we took the division, the moniker took off.

I love how we won that division and were like 'hahah stupid Brewers we own you' and then they proceeded to pants us in every way possible for the next 8 years.  And then the Bucks joined in vs the Bulls and the Packers never stopped embarrassing the Bears.

What sort of interaction do you prefer on a message board, especially in a game where we are lost 7-0.

You are the biggest thread cop on this board. I block you regularly, and then I unblock you for some reason. There's nothing wrong with people bitching and being meatballs. Let them bitch and be a meatball. You don't need to point out every single "well, actually" when someone goes full stupid in the game thread. But you love to do that. I don't know why. And it begets more from the meatballs, and soon no one is talking about the game, you are having a pissing contest to see who can humiliate the other guy better. Who gives a horsefeathers about how someone wants to react or say something stupid?

But you do you, I'm not sure what you get out of it.

He has a lot of guaranteed $$$ right?  How much would the owners have to eat?  The amount is probably too much given he is only in his 2nd year, but it sure seems like we overpaid.

I think it was 5/$40m.  If the money is equal each year they are eating $24m.

I think the idea of firing Counsell is so far from the Cubs minds it's not even worth speculating on it.  I doubt Counsell is a major reason why the Cubs stopped hitting for 6 weeks.

That’s how it usually goes.  First the team melts down.  Then we do.

Agreed.  But if this collapse continues and we miss the playoffs, it will be a very ugly (albeit interesting) September and who knows what will come of it.  I would expect someone on that team to start popping off and pointing fingers.   It has to be very uncomfortable to be in that locker room at the moment.

I actually appreciate the feedback. I don't think of what I'm doing as being a cop in that I don't intend to come off as being like 'no, shut up, stop offering your opinions'. People come on and give their opinions, and I assume they do it on a message board and not twitter because they want interaction. I'm probably not nearly as good as some of the other analytics guys (someone like 1908, as an example) in terms of getting my message across of like 'actually if you look at it this way, maybe you'd see it differently'. Can probably get better at that. But I'm totally fine with people disagreeing with my (increasingly dumb looking) optimistic takes and saying so, either by directly replying or by implicitly ('I was told...') or explicitly calling me out. It's all part of the experience. There's, to my knowledge, a lot more 'meatball'-y places to go and I always liked how this has been the 'least bad' Cubs message board on the internet.

Now, someone using their Philly background to justify booing a Cubs player and then immediately going to comments like 'what are you their mother, let the adults talk' should be called out, in my opinion.

It was $5 million.  Let's not exaggerate too much here.

This offenses inability to hit non-fastballs is embarrassing, and my theory, is that the approach has been so effective against them that they cant get out of their heads and now they aren't even on the fastball.

Im ok with being wrong but to me theres a lot lacking in the preparation dept IMO To me, far too often these are going out there with no plan besides try to pull the ball. Doubles to the pull side are tough these days unless its right down the line or a low line drive. Our pulled-air contact is finding a lot of gloves because of defensive alignment, not bad luck, and we just dont hit many low line drives. But now that we aren't on the fastball, almost all of our hard contact is up the middle lately and dying near the CF warning track.

imagine the atmosphere in Wrigley on Thursday if they lose the first 4

I wasn’t looking ahead that far.  Imagine the atmosphere tonight if they get down by 3 or 4.  Especially if we have like 2 hits.

Color me shocked that they are finally doing something about this.

Unfortunately he is only 1/4 or 1/5 of the problem.  But they need to try something.
