Was going to say it’s surprising the Padres at 60-49 are trading a pitcher of Dylan Cease’ calibre. And then I looked it up and Dylan has sucked this year.

Jed might trade for Paul Skenes in 5 minutes and make me look dumb, but he’s an extremely safe GM. Not shocked he’s waiting until the last possible second to make the best deal possible. He’s not going to go outside of his comfort zone. I still think the only reason he made the Tucker trade is because he HAD to put a winning product on the field this year.

He had to, to save his job. Which he accomplished that.

I'll say this, even though my anxiety is building over what may not happen, if the Cubs were going to make a swing...it was probably going to be a late one with the waters they were in. So being logical, this was probably always how today would go.

If there is a positive, the Brewers did even less. And I couldn’t care less what AL teams did. Sure, Mets, Phillies and Padres went bigger, but good chance we only face one of those teams. I think last minute we might see Jelly or Morton. I can’t believe Marlins won’t trade one of those pitchers. And if they wanted Spencer Jones from the Yankees would Cassie or even Alcantara be as good or better than him?

Jed made his two BP moves.  He wanted a great deal to materialize for a starter but it isn’t going to.  He’s OK with it because he has 2 starters coming back.  Maybe I’m wrong, but that seems likely to me.

Jed got his extension. Hes not going to do anything. He built a team just good enough to make the playoffs. Like he always does. Hes the worst big market GM of all time and a coward.

Because he's not very good any more.

They need a guy that can start postseason games. Verlander can do that. I know his season numbers hasn't been great, but he's good as of late. I think it's worth a flyer.

Then he's not near the acceptable GM some people in here like to consider him. Shota, Boyd(on way more inning than he's thrown at that point), Taillon is not an acceptable playoff rotation.
