Ahem. Today is the FINAL time the Cubs have to play the Dodgers in the regular season. AND if they win, they win the season series 4-3.  - Wait a minute, you mean to say there's other teams the Cubs are allowed to play?  The hell you say, I was all set for another series against the Padres!

I know it's listed as TBD but do we know if the Dodgers are planning a bullpen day or a piggyback situation?  I can't find anything on it, so I'm assuming a bullpen day.

Sounds like a pen game based on reports from the Score this morning.

The name I keep seeing is Matt Sauer, who isn't even listed on the ML roster per FG's roster resource. There's a couple random arms that they could send down for him, but the two guys listed with options (Casparius and Dreyer) were also two of the three bullpen pitchers who didn't pitch last night. If we can get to Sauer (or whoever it is) early, could see them punting on this one vs thinking about using Scott or Banda three in four days, Vesia again after 27 last night, etc.

We've got Pressly, Merryweather, Thielbar, and Palencia all with at least two days rest and an off day tomorrow. Hodge can probably go again if needed. It's the Dodgers, so it's never going to be easy, but with Boyd throwing well and everything above it's about as easy as you're going to get.

If you told me a few weeks ago that the Cubs could go 3-4 against the Dodgers in the season series despite (1) playing 2 games in Japan; (2) Steele going down for the season; and (3) Shaw getting sent back to AAA, I would have been grateful it wasn't an 0-7 sweep in favor of the Dodgers.

That being said, this is the most fun I've had to start a season in what feels like forever.  Keep it going!

Gap between the Cubs and 2nd is the same as the gap between 2nd and 28th.

Cubs have played the Dodgers, Padres, Diamondbacks, Rangers and A's.

Those teams are 10-15 against the Cubs.

They are 61-31 otherwise.

Even more absurd...Padres and Dodgers are 3-3 at home vs. the Cubs, and 19-0 otherwise.

What happens with Workman? Does he have to be offered back to Tigers?

Yeah, it'll cost them $50K or something to get him back unless the teams work something out for him to stay with the Cubs.

Tough break for Hollowell, but that's MLB bullpen life. You're unavailable the next couple days and you have options, get ready to go to Iowa.

He made $254 per pitch last night at least.
