It's all coming out now

Bears offensive players apparently never liked Waldron going back to the summer, when they thought that he was negating work they had done in previous years by installing a new running scheme and that he was installing a passing offense too complicated for a rookie QB.

Meanwhile Eberflus had a full five year guaranteed deal so we will be paying him through 2026

FFS the baseline for an OC is someone the offensive players like and trust and they knew even before the season they didn’t have that

I actually don’t hate, on principle, giving Caleb a full veteran NFL playbook - but if he wasn’t feeling it and other players weren’t comfortable with it, than absolutely no.

so many foreseeable mistakes they made this past offseason. Woof.

I’m for giving Thomas Brown a full shot.  That is, let’s see what happens with this extended audition and if it looks good he’s as valid a candidate as anyone.

Yeah, I think most teams have "paying multiple coaches salaries at the same time" built into their budgets.

There are a lot of former coaches getting paid right now

I don't hate a lot of decisions on paper, but their job is to get the players on board with those decisions and they failed

This is paywalled but a really good in-depth look at what we basically already knew: we've had a full-on player mutiny going all season.

The offensive players hated Waldron and felt like he was screwing up Williams' development.

The defensive players felt like Eberflus screwed up by allowing a free completion on the Washington hail Mary drive, and not calling a timeout before the hail Mary. (Personally I think they're wrong, but it doesn't matter, if you don't have the players' respect enough for them to trust you on calls like this, then you can't be a head coach).

Things really boiled over after the end of this game. Eberflus tried to give his speech about perseverance or whatever, but Jaylon Johnson and then other players were yelling at him for not calling a timeout after Williams was sacked. Eberflus finished his speech and left the room.

My thing has always been people get too worked up over tiny differences in in-game strategy, but the one thing you cannot do as a head coach is lose the locker room.  Whether the calls were right or wrong is irrelevant, the fact that he didn't have the players' trust is disqualifying.

The issue going forward is that we need to get control of things. I do not want the inmates running the asylum in the locker room long-term.

I know this is where rooting for draft position makes sense, but I would like to see them win some games down the stretch to help return things to normalcy

I want to know why they tried to turn Moore into a gadget player after the season he had and the extension they gave him. If I were Poles - or any player - this would have pissed me off to no end.

This is a really tough audition for Brown. Two promotions in 3 weeks and games against teams with a combined record of 40-17 with a team that hasn't had a direction most of the season. At least he gets an extra holiday weekend to prepare.

How much of an improvement in overall team play will we see now that the players aren't sulking before the clock even starts each week?

This is the week that Russell Wilson should overtake Fields for 50% of the offensive snaps, locking in that 6th round pick assuming he reamins uninjured the rest of the season.

I continue to wonder if Cunningham will ever get/take a GM job, giving us two 3rds. He turned down Arizona, was a finalist somewhere else. This seems like a shelf life type job, if you miss your window....good luck.  Not sure this years Bears performance boosts his stock, ha

If Brown can help with the case of step on their own dickitis they'll probably win some games.  It's not a roster devoid of talent, I would say none of the remaining teams have a big edge, if any, in talent on the Bears.  Hopefully, Wright and Shelton will be good to go, the OL with Jones, Jenkins, Shelton and Wright is adequate.  An adequate OL with Caleb getting the ball out quick means the offense will cook.  Big things are will the defense stop the run enough and generate some pressure on the QB to get some stops.  They were able to do so in the second half vs. Lions, which means they're certainly capable of getting a few stops vs anyone else.

If you extrapolate Caleb's numbers from the 3 games under Thomas Brown to a full season, it's like 4200 yards and 28 TDs

Against really good teams too

No NFL week 13 thread so I'll put this here:

I am enjoying the Bryce Young renaissance.  I dunno how high his ceiling is but he's playing like he has a chance to be a Dalton line guy and not an all-time bust.

Give QBs until the end of their second season before you pronounce judgment.  If they haven't shown it by then, then you start to eye the draft

Taylor is currently 23rd in net punting average fwiw

Ok you convinced me.  Never ever draft a punter again.

He had that game won. Chuba fumbled, almost as if on cue to keep their high draft pick status safe. I don't honestly believe that. I also thought the first Thielen catch was good.

That hit on Trevor Lawrence was ugly. He damn near got decapitated.

Same guy who hit Lawrence was the guy who punched Roschon Johnson on sideline week 2

Some old video of him going after Brady’s throat on a play surfaced yesterday too. Dude is a dirty POS.

I've seen people arguing it was clean, that's football, total horsefeathers, dude's wearing a brace. Leads with that padded arm right into Lawrence' head, there was nothing "hard" and "clean" about it, should be fined and suspended.

I saw it in real time, and all of the different angles. No, it was not clean. There are ways to prevent full impact at the point you see Lawrence going into his slide. Might not be able to stop hitting him entirely, but the high impact at his chest, neck and head area could have been prevented. Dude didn't care to try to avoid it. As has already been said, he's a dirty player. His attitude after the play was over was even worse than the hit, IMO. Evan Ingram gave him a hard shove in the back that knocked his ass to the ground. After that, he acted like he was the only one on the field who was wronged. Will Anderson prevented him from doing any more stupid stuff, and it took several minutes of Anderson holding him back while medics were attending to Lawrence.

That is a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of a guy who was the passing coordinator just a few weeks ago. I know the NFL is highly compartmentalized, but I hope they're giving him a lot of help.

All logic and common sense speaks to such a conclusion.  But, it is the Bears so, you never know.
