After two straight double digit losses the Bears have lost their first two division games by a combined 4 points, covering a surprisingly low spread in both games.

Now they are 10.5 point dogs and +410 to win on national TV, which I would call their nemesis if not for the fact that other NFL teams are already the nemesis of every Eberflus coached team regardless of time, day or network the game is on.

I hope the defense gets destroyed so Williams gets plenty of garbage time

Williams will put up 30 in a loss and still get hated on because it wasn't a win.

Our rookie QB just dropped 340 2/0 on the no. 1 dvoa defense including one of the most clutch 2-minute performances to close a game in soldier field history.

He already holds the bears rookie record for passing yards and TDs.  With a decent but not spectacular game this week he could pass Fields' career high.  And he hasn't thrown an interception in like two months.

He's on pace for 3641 17/8 as a rookie.  I haven't completely given up on 4k yet.  He needs to average 274 per game the rest of the way, which is a longshot but maybe the defense crumbles and we get lots of garbage time

Watched the Jenkins film, really nice to see a Bears QB not be overwhelmed by the Vikings and their blitzes.  They had their shot, they had a big advantage being the first time Caleb has faced them and they couldn't shake him.  That's got bode well for the future.  Just heard Caleb was 9-12, should have been 10-12, 2 TD's vs. the Vikings blitzes, not bad.

3400 15/8 is where I think he’ll end up, but that would still be a relatively successful season

3400 yards would have ranked him #17 in the league last year. I'll take that

One of the things I liked about Caleb’s game last week was that he threw the ball downfield into coverage and trusted his receivers to come up with the ball, which, for the most part they did. Wouldn’t be shocked if he throws a pick or two in this one because they’ll likely be trailing early. But I’m glad he got his moxie back and he isn’t playing scared.

The last time he threw an INT was the last time the Bears won a game. Not saying it’s a good thing to throw INTs but for Caleb specifically when he’s not throwing INTs he’s usually playing tentative and afraid to get rid of the ball like in the Patriots game. I’m not sure how he got into that mindset. He was playing so well against Carolina and Jacksonville and then all the sudden after the bye looked scared to throw anywhere that might be the smallest bit dangerous. I could see that happening after a bad 3 INT game or something like that but it almost feels like it was coached into him during the bye 😡

I don’t even remember him having any turnover worthy throws in the first 4 games after the bye. Yesterday I think he had 1 or 2.

This is a weird post to make after yesterdays effort, when he was slinging it all over the place

Right which is why I was responding to a post that talked about how he was throwing downfield in coverage yesterday and how he might throw 1-2 INTs this week. My response focused too much on the lack of throwing INTs but I was basically trying to say keep slinging it like he has the last 2 weeks. While I obviously don’t want him to throw it to the other team, he’s been at his best when he’s not afraid to rip it and not worry so much about trying to be perfect.

Las Vegas odds makers on the Bears chances Thursday

Absolutely a top 5 favorite movie of all time for me. Maybe #1. Also has my all time favorite line in a movie..... "You're going the wrong way"   with the response "How do they know where we are going?" followed up with you all are drinking too much hand signals. Always laugh at that.

I too think this one will be ugly. Lions offense is unstoppable right now. Shocked that they leave the starters in way longer than necessary. Last week with a 3 score lead, they never did take Goff out.

I think you're low on all three stats. What we know is every game will be tough the rest of the way. The run game will likely be abandoned early in each of these games in attempts to catch up or stay in each game, and frankly, the run game isn't very good most of the time anyway. If Williams can do what he did against Minnesota, he could do it against every one of these other teams, also. Not saying he will, but I'd predict he'll be closer to 300 yards a game the rest of the way. There will likely be more attempts on 4th down since the season is basically a wash now anyway. So, yeah, more yards, more td passes and more INT's since, well, more passing.

174 yards is what you are predicting him to average in his last 6 games. He's averaging 285 under the new OC. I'd like to think that this will continue to trend positively going forward.

I like the scene on their flight, fellow is sleeping on Steve Martin, coughing, Martin, disgusted, looks over at John Candy who opens his eyes - "Six bucks and my right nut were not landing in Chicago..."

Lions offensive is rolling, it'll probably be ugly, Bears do have a QB and some decent receivers, they'll score some points on the Lions.  Maybe, quite a few points, while giving up quite a few.

i just feel he'll have a few more stinker games, he is still a rookie. But in the end it will be a solid 1st season overall

Me too, I try to watch it every Thanksgiving weekend

Given where the Bears D is at, this might be similar to that game where Jared Goff had like 10 attempts. The Lions have no reason to really throw the ball that much, just run it down our throats. (Which will, sadly, shorten the game for Caleb pass attempts)

I think the answer is somewhere in the middle. Averaging 300 passing yards a game is a 5,100 yard pace over a full season.  Only 6 players in NFL history have thrown for 5,100 yards in a season.  I get that its only a 6 game stretch but still that's a sky high pace for a rookie QB that is facing a lot of great defenses for a team this is going nowhere and will soon have to deal with players who are just trying to get through a lost season and lame duck (hopefully) coach.

it would be so so funny (and sad) if Caleb Williams in his rookie season sets the Bears single-season passing yardage record.

(there would absolutely be angry meatballs saying that was bad because we weren't running the ball enough or whatever)
