I've never seen a team that has publicly demanded so many things as this year's Bears team.  We're constantly hearing reports, or straight from the players mouths, of what the coaching staff should be doing in their opinion.  There is value to having a team that is vocal and not afraid to express their thoughts on things and push for change when change is needed, but this feels more like the inmates running the asylum type of behavior and another major indictment of the coaching staff.

Maybe the next guy will find a way to use our star wide receiver as the main option more than the 32 year old who can’t run or catch. And possibly get our tight end a target or two.

a seemingly intractable problem that no one can figure out

When the players turn on the coaches, it's time to get rid of both sides and start fresh.  And the guy who hired them all should be looked at too.  The whole thing is rotten.

Yeah, sorry, this has crossed over into fun bad. We've got a full player mutiny and a QB controversy and we haven't even started the divisional beatings yet.  We're staring at 3 ugly losses to division rivals in an 11-day stretch.

This is one of the more majestic crashouts I've ever seen a sports team pull

2014 Bears- back to back 50pts allowed vs New England and GB

2003 Cubs NLCS

1984 Cubs NLCS

This one is right up there if it ends in a 4-13 or 5-12 season

I don't think its fun bad. I don't think there's a way this season can be fun bad to me. Fun Bad is when the team has no hope or prospects for the future, and you're starting Jimmy Clausen for some reason. This is just sad.

Just a shocking reversal from week 6 to now. I don't think I've ever seen a Chicago team reverse course this dramatically. I was dismissing it at the time, but that Hail Mary really did break the team emotionally, which was clearly not a psychologically very strong team. (And Eberflus is definitely not the guy to keep it all together).

Most definitely, no more targets for Allen, Carter, Lewis or Everett, if you're going down at least try fighting with your best.  Old, slow guys aren't your best.

Whats the realistic chance the Bears win this game? 5%? Less?

Apparently Love has a knack for INT's, Bears get a pick or two deep in GB territory then anything could happen.  They might even score, dare I say, a TD.

I keep hearing the same thing over and over following Waldron's firing. The Bears kept running plays designed for veteran QBs, not a rookie QB getting his feet wet in the NFL. Let him succeed on the basic plays then once he has success open it up to the next tier of plays.

I can't remember the Bears ever firing any coach mid-season that wasn't an HR issue like last year.

Maybe it will be a sign of change and Flus won't last the whole year as a lame duck.  Only question in if it's Poles who's taking charge to admit his mistake or Warren flexes for the first real time.

Start Bagent

Unless this is coming from a "please don't get Caleb killed in his rookie season because the line is so bad" kind of place, this is dumb and bad.

Nah, I’d just call the players bluff (the reported ones who want Bagent to start) and when it likely ends in an unavoidable nasty loss, I’d tell them “we tried it, now we go back to Caleb” and let them realize that if they don’t start playing at an expected level, they’ll be replaced the next game

whats the worst that could happen? Bagent throws for +300 yards and the Bears win? If that’s the case than the issue really is Caleb

I mean. Ok. Waldron clearly wasn’t anything special and his game calling in the last game was particularly dreadful. But this feels like firing a hitting coach when an MLB team is struggling. Sure, do it. But I think Eberflus is much more of a problem here and they’re giving us a sacrificial lamb because they can’t fire Eberflus yet.

I agree with this, but also I completely understand why it had to be done this way.  Logistically, firing Eberflus in-season would be a huge problem.  Not only do you have to replace your head coach, but in this case you would have to replace your defensive playcaller as well.  And who could even take over as head coach?  It would be one thing if they had experienced assistant coaches ready to step in and fill the gap, but I don't see anyone on this staff who could fill that role.  Eberflus needs to be fired but, at least for now, he is still the best option to finish out the season.

I know we've seen Young and Richardson benched this year and it hasnt completely destroyed their relationship with the team but I don't think you can horsefeathers with benching Caleb regardless of the justification.  Just opens up a giant can of worms with Caleb's team

I said this in the week 10 thread, but Darren Rizzi has literally no coaching experience above special teams coordinator in the NFL, yet he coached his team to a victory this week against a tough Atlanta opponent. This was his very first week taking over for Dennis Allen. Eric Washington can continue his work as DC and now that Brown is in place as OC, let any other coach on the roster who has respect from the players take over as interim.

If it's a situation where the players have quit on this coaching staff, then replace the coach and see if that fixes things.
