I know we've seen Young and Richardson benched this year and it hasnt completely destroyed their relationship with the team but I don't think you can horsefeathers with benching Caleb regardless of the justification.  Just opens up a giant can of worms with Caleb's team

They had veteran backups. Bagent isn’t that.

Calling the players bluff... So dumb.

If DJ wants more passes with Bagent he can play scout team all week and then sit Sundays for all I care.  There's your bluff.

Besides if Brown has at least one active brain cell, he'll pretty quickly figure out the ball needs to go to DJ, Rome and Kmet.  Doesn't take much to arrive at such a conclusion from the film, all you need is eyesight.

I expected more leadership from DJ and Keenan, but they aren’t bringing it

Start Bagent

There’s zero value to this season aside from developing and assessing Caleb Willliams. There’s no other purpose to this season at this point. Now if starting Bagent furthers that, if things are so bad and Caleb is too exposed by the offensive line and also spiraling and needs to reboot, I’m open to that argument. But that’s it. If Caleb is dogshit, we have to find that out.

They just fired their OC, The can of worms is lying on its side, wide open and completely empty at this point

Chicago sports is a dumpster fire for a plethora of reasons that are almost unique to each team.

Somewhat disagree.  All 5 teams suck in part for reasons that can trace back to ownership.  For different reasons maybe, but the problem is the owners.  They all suck.

agree on that.

I simply refuse to believe that any player truly wants Tyson Bagent over Caleb Williams. I mean, I can buy that DJ Moore is upset at his usage (and justifiably so), but no, I cannot believe he actually wants Bagent over Williams. Nobody is that stupid.

This guy is a rando with 800 followers (almost as many as me!), but he was reporting pretty confidently that Waldron was out yesterday evening so I'm interested to read his story about the timeline based on what he might know.  Of course the whole thing could be BS but I'm willing to give him a shot.

Players are not players because of their intelligence. The average player has the same opinions as the average Score caller outside of very position-specific technique details.

I imagine ooh, running around in the scamper drill for 8-10 seconds and having the play end in a 30 yard gain would be fun.

otoh, running around in the scamper drill only to watch your indecisive qb get smashed is not

i could see where veterans would get sick of it

My extremely thin hope is that I'm wrong and there is some play-calling specific thing that the players want changed and it will actually make a difference.

I'm not optimistic.  But crazier things have happened.

It sure seems to me, reading between the lines, that Moore has been pouting ever since Fields left, and he *definitely* didn't like how he was being used in this offense.  I assume he's the locker room leader in terms of the mutiny.

I could see Kmet making a fuss as well, he was making comments about execution and decisions after the Commanders game

There's certainly been no shortage of criticisms on play scheme from the "pro tape watchers" on social media.  Hopefully there's real scheme issues that can.be fixed simply. Although it's not like Thomas didn't have a role in scheme design already.  So we have to hope his best ideas were being muted or just not transferred into play calling.

Wonder if Thomas will just reign in some of the decision making for Caleb.  An early theme in the season has always been that Caleb was being asked to do stuff even many veteran QBs struggle with. Maybe Thomas pulls a McVay and is in his new QBs ear and dictating a lot more. Simplify everything and treat him like a rookie.

Reasons for Bears Fans to Have at Least Some Optimism This Sunday

-Will the real Jordan Love please stand up:

  • Games 1-9, 2023: 58.7 percent, 14 touchdowns vs. 10 interceptions, 6.7 yards per attempt – 80.5 passer rating (27th out of 34 quarterbacks with 100 attempts).
  • Games 10-17, 2023: 70.3 percent, 18 touchdowns vs. one interception, 7.7 yards per attempt – 112.7 passer rating (2nd out of 33 quarterbacks with 100 attempts).
  • Games 1-9, 2024: 61.3 percent, 15 touchdowns vs. 10 interceptions, 7.6 yards per attempt – 88.2 passer rating (22nd out of 36 quarterbacks with 100 attempts).

-Defensive tackle Kenny Clark, the 12th highest paid player at his position, has zero sacks.

-Cornerback Jaire Alexander, a two-time second-team All-Pro, can't seem to stay on the field.

-Defensive end Rashan Gary, the eighth highest paid edge defender, has 2.5 sacks but only a half-sack in which he actually beat his blocker.

-Defensive end Lukas Van Ness has one sack. Of 85 edge defenders with at least 125 pass-rushing snaps, he ranks 84th in PFF’s pass-rush productivity, which measures sacks, hits and hurries per pass-rushing snap, and 74th in pass-rush win rate.

On offense, the Packers are 19th on third down and 30th in the red zone.

On defense, they are an excellent sixth on third down but 20th in the red zone.

Of the 14 teams that would be in the playoffs if the season were to end today, only the Packers are 20th or worse in both red-zone categories.

Snippets pulled from Link .

I know the Bears have all sorts of problems, but the Packers seem to have taken a step back from the latter part of last season in many areas. Love's injury, a new defensive coordinator/system, sh!tty Kickers, and way too many drops seem to be the root cause.

It's just weird that he signed a giant extension right in the middle of that.  I mean, yes if someone is throwing big guaranteed money at him, it's not like he's going to just refuse to sign it.  He'll take the guaranteed money and then put up a fuss in the future if he decides he doesn't want to be here anymore.  But he seemed pretty on board with everything at the time he signed the extension at least.

This BS will disappear when he's featured and targeted, instead of a slow, old man.  Who could blame him for getting PO'ed about deferring or focusing on Cpt Slow?

2014 Bears- back to back 50pts allowed vs New England and GB

2003 Cubs NLCS

1984 Cubs NLCS

This one is right up there if it ends in a 4-13 or 5-12 season

I wasn’t alive yet but the ‘69 Cubs is probably at #2 with the ‘84 Cubs an easy #1. Went to SD only needing to win 1 of 3 to go to the WS.

5 outs away from the WS seems like the worse to me
