Alex Rocco GIF by The Godfather

Death comes for us all.

After the last couple game thread starters horsefeathers the bed by jumping in the way of a winning streak, I’m back to set things right.

No, the bears aren’t going to win. But it’s time to head to the mattresses. These things happen every 5 or 10 years, it helps to get rid of the bad blood.

How can the Bears watch film and not see an old, fat, slow Keenan Allen brings nothing to table, most especially with an OL that's incapable of pass blocking?  For those who know more about pro football than I, what can the Bears do?  Generically, I'd say Caleb does some things well, use them and keep putting him in a position where he's able to execute.  Inject some speed by benching Allen and trying Scott, don't see how Scott could be worse, in fact he'd probably be able to actually run away from some defenders.  Maybe, more RB screens and quick passes right off the line?  Nothing slow developing, it'll never work and will lead to sacks/bad stuff/etc.

I feel bad for the people who bought tickets to this game. I mean, most Bears games vs the Packers are doomed nightmare, but this…this has gotta be the one you feel the worst going to

If the offensive tackles come back, they could maybe squeeze a competitive game out of it.  Surely we're due for a dead cat bounce.

But if things keep looking like they've looked the last three weeks, this team could lose out

I'm pretty sure I saw a play on Sunday where Allen ran a slant and Williams was able to come back and hit him out of the break as a third option because that's how slow Allen's slant is

Hosting a neighborly chili cook off Sunday.  Going with extra beans in mine so everyones flatuance distracts them from the gut wrenching experience of watching Bears football.

I made a big batch with extra beans last night. My wife picked the wrong day to work from home.

How can TV viewers see this and the so-called professionals can't?  The time to defer to Allen is over, horsefeathers him, put him on the same train out of town with Nate Davis.

Caleb's tentativeness needs to be the number 1 thing to fix this week.  While I wasn't quite like Kyle rooting for him to throw an INT, I don't think him throwing one would have been the worst thing in the world.  He could at least realize that a 3 and out where you take 2 sacks is almost as damaging as an INT...

Yeah I agree-  I'm certainly not rooting for Caleb to throw interceptions, but I think his tentativeness is a contributing factor to the team falling apart offensively. He's not throwing enough one-on-one balls (and his receivers are not helping by dropping the few ones that have come their way), and he's not competing in the middle and downfield. Let the thing fly, young man. It can't get worse than this.

I'm starting to fear the "eberflus coaches the aggressiveness out of QBs by preaching ball security" takes are spot on.  So much of what's going on with Williams could be explained by being overly cautious to avoid any hint of an interception.

Apparently some players demanded it to Poles/Flus.  Also rumors of some players wanting Bagent (per Silvy)

That better not be true, unless they want Bagent to absorb the 60 or so sacks the rest of the season

If the offense competes against the Packers that horsefeathers will go away.

I mean. Ok. Waldron clearly wasn’t anything special and his game calling in the last game was particularly dreadful. But this feels like firing a hitting coach when an MLB team is struggling. Sure, do it. But I think Eberflus is much more of a problem here and they’re giving us a sacrificial lamb because they can’t fire Eberflus yet.

I think the big difference here is that the players on offense, specifically the WR, had essentially stopped trying with Waldron in charge.  The difference in performance between a half hearted 80% effort and an all out 100% effort in the NFL is night and day.  Hopefully this helps, though I have very little belief it will.
