I just realised there are so many announcer possibilities if the Cubs trade Dick Lovelady and he comes up against Hoerner, Busch and Mastrobuoni.

Good win today. Didn’t get swept and that’s what matters.

Nice 7 game home stand coming up.

I would love to see PCA become a hitter like Brett Butler was..

He was awesome with getting bunt hits and had great speed

Wow that's a name I havent thought about in a long time

With Shota/Jameson/Assad you probably at least hope for 2 out of 3, but not a lot of shame in avoiding a sweep in Atlanta with where we're at now.

True. And not like the Braves started bad pitchers. I am pretty sure they felt pretty good with Lopez, Sale and Morton going.

Yeah, he was the best bunter I've ever seen.  You were sure he was going to bunt and it didn't matter.  He would still get a bunt single.

He's actually hitting .260 now, which I wouldn't have guessed. But you're absolutely right. He's fun.

Yeah, I saw that the next time he came up, haha.  I was meaning for the season, but I would be ok if he wanted to stay at .260.

Hopefully not doing any woodworking.

Oh crap. I thought I'd erased that dam story from my head. We had to suffer through the "woodworking horror story" every game he came to bat

Baseball is pretty unique in that you get a reminder that the player who sucked 5 days ago and 4 days ago and 3 days ago and 2 days ago and 1 day ago, still sucks today. We are pretty privileged as baseball fans to be able to see it in real time.

This is getting incredible with Assad.  A couple of weeks ago I was thinking he could end up in the ASG discussion but my sights are much higher now

Yeah, the stat nerds keep saying it's not sustainable....well, the sample size is pretty large now!!

Look at the list of pitchers he's faced during his time here so far. He could actually do even better.

Can we talk more about PCA. And his 103 wRC. And his 20% K rate. And his 6 fWAR/600 PA pace that he's on. And how he's already 5th among centerfielders in defensive value. And how he's definitely got the swag of like, an albino Javy. Find that 15 HR power stroke and he's my new favorite offensive player (Shota still has my heart).

Love what PCA brings to the table. I just hope he continues to hit/get on base. He adds a swagger that this team just does not have elsewhere.

More seriously, I am softening on the idea of PCA being able to learn at the big league level vs. needing more Iowa time to get at bats.  That said, I'd caution that his current top line results don't portend a lot of optimism of continuing unless adjustments happen.  HBP are more than 10% of his time on base, and his contact quality is not great.  If he's going to hover at the big league average K rate though, he can be plenty functional as long as pitchers don't find a super-repeatable easy button to get pop ups or ground balls.
