If you had told me that Kirk Cousins went in to Philly tonight and was 31/43 for 364 yards, 4 TD passes, and no turnovers, I’d safely assume that he won the game.

I sat both him and Swift in fantasy this week.

You might be the only one here who dislikes more of what Poles has done than I do. I'm never going to complain about getting a really good OT.

Im not complaining about (whatshisname again?), it’s more about Poles’ habit of continually passing on talent available to him. He could have greatly improved the offensive line a year ago and he punted. He could have done so many things to have this team in a better situation today, but like the John Fox of GMs he’d rather punt on 3rd down than try and score.

Yes, but it's also against everything the Tampa-2 scheme prides itself on. This "scheme" is designed to get pressure with the front 4 only. Of course, you'd think they'd actually put more resources into said area if that is the case.

That scheme works if you actually have 4 guys who can disrupt the offensive scheme. Since it can't, improvisation is quite necessary. Adjustments weren't made in game 1 when it was clearly needed. That's on coaching. Coaching should have known before the game that Tampa-2 wasn't going to be enough. You've got excellent LB's to get pressure on the QB. You have safeties dying to do something other than run routes. Stevenson and Gordon seem like guys who could provide pressure on the QB. Stevenson seems like a guy who could bat down a throw and maybe even catch it and score a td. Mayfield is probably going to go to Godwin early and often on Sunday. If he has time to throw all day, guys will get open and Fields will need to figure out a way to score more than 30 points with this OLine clearly not ready to protect him well enough to score 30 points.

I just don't feel like one week is enough time to fix everything that went wrong in week 1, so this team is looking at being 0-3 going into week 4. Can they even find decent coaching during the season if replacements are needed? I'd hate to think they have to punt the season this early.

No jumping jacks from lineman and no lineman blocking each other would be an improvement.  I think this is certainly fixable.

The jumping jacks was probably my favorite part of that video. Even better was him spelling out B-E-A-R-S while he skipped.

No, they can’t find better coaching in season.
Occasionally you can upgrade a position coach with a guy that is just sitting around for some reason, but this isnt just a matter of a team needing a better OLine coach to help the players execute the plan. This is a poor coaching staff that is filled with guys who probably won’t be in the league next year if this continues. Getsy will have to be an OC at some second rate college if he can’t take advantage of Fields’ athleticism. Maybe a Northwestern would hire him.

Williams might latch on as a secondary coach, but who else is running this system that would want him? Maybe he goes the way of Mel Tucker (just not all the way) and can emerge as a college head coach. But no NFL team will hire him as DC with this unit.

Bears ownership had to get the coach and GM hire correct when Nagy/Pace were canned and at least as of now they have failed. This is a story as old as time for the Bears, why can't these horsefeathers clowns get anything right?

They never will, not for lack of trying, it's just not something they're capable of, our best shot them selling the Bears.

Watching the game last night it appeared to me Hurts really isn't much better than Fields, I'm certain if Fields was behind his OL or had a more reliable OL he's be just fine.  When it comes to offense it's what, 85-90% about your line?  What's completely shocking, is Poles, of all people, should know this, he did a good job of putting a line together in KC.  Is way out there to think, no matter what, Fields isn't his guy and maybe he didn't like any of Young, Stroud, etc. to pull the trigger in this year's draft?  Seems awfully manipulative and cunning to kind of set up a guy for success - DJ Moore, etc., yet fail to fix the most important contributing factor to that success.  I'm probably high on coffee, most likely explanation, is Poles is just another dumb horsefeathers in a long line of dumb fucks.

Because they are nepobabies with no knowledge of the industry. The Ricketts lucked into Theo or the Cubs would be in the same spot. I assume after some period of time the Cubs will be in the same spot. They will have to luck their way into the right hire.

It was great, but for me it was "sabotage mode" when Davis not only doesn't block his guy, he literally goes over to the teammate on his left and knocks him off a clean block.  Bear jacks would have literally been an improvement on that play

I recently became a coach on my daughter's mountain bike team. This Sunday we are hosting the race and will have teams from all over Washington State here in our trails. It's a blessing that means I can't be tempted to watch this game.

So, hopefully, I just jinxed it for hairy and Fields puts up 300 yds and 4 tds.

Re: not having a good pass rush while trying to run a cover 2.

The thing that has really convinced me that Poles isn't it is his weird sense of positional priorities.    I bought the "maybe he's on to something and we don't really need edges, it's all about coverage now" hype a bit in the offseason and I was wrong.

The first draft pick he ever made was a safety.  We've drafted like 17 cornerbacks.  We're trying to limp along at left tackle with a 5th rounder who is ok for being a fifth rounder.

By money and draft capital, the market has determined the three most valuable positions in the NFL are QB, LT and edge.  Those are the three positions we've invested the least in under Poles.

That’s an obligatory map for sure.  “Do we have to show them?”  Darn.

DirecTV not only lost Sunday Ticket, but I don't have CBS right now, either. Not sure when that holdout will end, but DirecTV is running a Facebook ad that basically says "DirecTV is Not Fumbling The Ball" or something of that nature, and it's basically a promo by DirecTV that they have all the football you can possibly watch. The comments are pretty hysterical. Some don't have NBC, some don't have CBS and others don't have Fox, and DirecTV comments on every comment as if there is something they can tell people that would satisfy their anger. I have 3 tv's set up in my man cave, and I had plans to watch the Bears on the main tv, RedZone on the second and whatever CBS game was on the third tv. I learned an hour before game time that I don't even have CBS. So I downloaded the CBS Sports app, and instead of the Vikings game, they had the Colts. So I went to Paramount +, which is also showing CBS football content, and they had the Browns/Bengals. Neither was worth wasting my precious internet data since I have to save it for Thursday night Amazon games, so I just turned the 3rd tv off. I won't lose my mind about CBS until the Bears are scheduled to play there and I can't watch.

Drafting a safety and for whatever, reason, continuing to stockpile the DB's should have been the first alarm.  I don't care how good your linebackers and secondary is, it's all rendered useless if the QB has literally all the time in the world on every passing down.  Only someone completely ignorant or so stubborn in sticking to his plan would fail to recognize. Or maybe its an example of him trying to be the smartest guy in the room well, I got news for you, Alfred Einstein, artists create, genius steals.
