DirecTV not only lost Sunday Ticket, but I don't have CBS right now, either. Not sure when that holdout will end, but DirecTV is running a Facebook ad that basically says "DirecTV is Not Fumbling The Ball" or something of that nature, and it's basically a promo by DirecTV that they have all the football you can possibly watch. The comments are pretty hysterical. Some don't have NBC, some don't have CBS and others don't have Fox, and DirecTV comments on every comment as if there is something they can tell people that would satisfy their anger. I have 3 tv's set up in my man cave, and I had plans to watch the Bears on the main tv, RedZone on the second and whatever CBS game was on the third tv. I learned an hour before game time that I don't even have CBS. So I downloaded the CBS Sports app, and instead of the Vikings game, they had the Colts. So I went to Paramount +, which is also showing CBS football content, and they had the Browns/Bengals. Neither was worth wasting my precious internet data since I have to save it for Thursday night Amazon games, so I just turned the 3rd tv off. I won't lose my mind about CBS until the Bears are scheduled to play there and I can't watch.

I haven't had NBC for like 2 or 3 months

Despite all of Poles messed up moves, he has significantly improved the roster, this isn't a roster of full Taco Charletons, Armon Watts, and Ihmir Smith-Marsettes types, they should have shown better in game 1.

I have YouTube TV but my router was on the fritz Sunday so i had both my TVs running on a basic antenna and it worked surprisingly well  Have you given that a shot?  The antennas are pretty cheap and easy to hook up.

I love pulling up the Bears all time receiving leaders because the first two positions are a FLANKER and LEFT END.

And to round out the top 5 from there, it's Alshon Jeffrey, Walter Payton and Mike Ditka.

I didn’t have it nearly as bad.  Spectrum got into a spat with Disney and we lost ESPN.  I never missed it.  The most interesting thing about it for me was that Spectrum worked out a deal with Fubo, calling them their “preferred streaming partner.”  That’s weird, wouldn’t sending people to a cable cutting service be a bad idea?

Eberflus and Getsy should feel good about landing jobs with the Bears, who will tolerate mediocrity much longer than other teams.  They’ll get the full measure of opportunity, even though it’s undeserved.  Even though everyone knows right now they will not succeed.

Well, this will be somewhat interesting.  I never liked the Eberflus hire, but it will be interesting to see if the defense performs better with him calling plays.  A main part of that was it seemed annoying to be going back to the Cover-2 and that his main coaching strengths seemed to be focused on effort in a league where strategy is more important than in any other sport.  Part of that was the coaching staff he assembled.  Williams was pretty bad as a DC in his one stint before the bears.  It seemed like last year when we did make positive adjustments on defense, it only came after halftime where maybe Eberflus provided input.

The DVOA formula has been updated to coincide with the move to a new site, so Aaron Schatz redid the historical DVOA numbers. Now the top 10 overall teams in history:

I remember that Washington team, I was living near Baltimore at the time and with no NFL team (Ravens came in 95) a lot of people jumped on their bandwagon including me (though Bears still #1).  That team was pretty damn dominant....wouldnt have expected them to be higher than the 85 Bears though.

Something I noticed with Hurt on Thursday night is a lot of plays where he signalled something to a receiver at the line and it resulted in a wide open throw.

Has fields ever done that? Im drawing a blank but am a known idiot, maybe im just forgetting

I know many of us are down on Fields but, he actually did recognize and call out a blitz which resulted in the TD pass to Mooney.

Fair enough. Just watched that play again and he looks to the left and says something, not toward Mooney's side, but I don't know what their signals are so maybe it was.

*Maybe* It's just a coincidence that both he and the defensive coordinator have "personal reasons" this week, but it sure feels like this team imploded faster than any team I've ever seen.

That said, I'm not gonna rule a dead cat bounce in the next few weeks. There's no way the doom boner pays off *this* hard, this fast.

I feel bad, the fanbase was pretty hard on him.  I don't think I was that hard but I questioned the strangeness of his absences.  In reality all the clues were there that there was something going on in his personal life.   And yeah Kyle I agree, seems strange that he even played and helps make sense of the poor performance (I hope)
