I think I’m out on Fields. If he’s still having these issues at this point of his career he’s never going to figure it out.

Unfortunately, if they don't get the #1 pick. Maye has the same issues.

I said last year we'd started the Bears QB Bust Cycle, and we're almost there.

The last thing left is for Fields to get some sort of injury, something relatively minor but enough to keep him out of a game or two, and Bagent comes in and Ortons.  Not good, but *just* different enough to start a full-blown QB controversy.

He's going to be a guy who always flashes amazing skills and then the next two plays shows a guy who has no business being a starter. He has about zero pocket awareness. Also, can we  please find a happy medium between he runs too much and just never runs at all. 2 rushes for 6 yards, really?

The Bears QB Bust cycle

1) He's just a rookie, we just need to see improvement week to week

2) That coach is an idiot.  Once we bring in a new coach, watch him take off.

3) You can't count this season against him, he's got a new coach and is learning a new offense. It's basically his second rookie year.

4) He's got no help.  We need to focus on the surrounding cast in the offseason.

5) Really? All the problems are still there? <--- we are here

6) OK he's hurt this week, let's see what the backup has.  Wow, not terrible, we have a QB controversy on our hands.

7) Draft a new QB and give this coach one more chance his rookie year, then fire the coach and bring in a new one.  Then a year later fire the GM so the new GM has a legacy coach and QB to work with.

Add in the wrinkle that the QB you want will go back to school before he's willing to be drafted by you.

A better QB than Baker Mayfield would have put up 28 points that half.  Defense was actually worse than the offense.

Offense had some flashes. Not good enough, not enough to change my mind about them long-term, but not completely worthless.

A little thing, but the "moving toward pressure in the pocket" is back after he cleaned it up last year.

It's like having too many swing thoughts in golf. You can give him one clear direction to think about like "move away from the pressure" or "throw the checkdown when you don't see anything", but none of it is instinctual and once he's thinking about one he loses the others.

It sucks that it’s exclusive to the Bears. Most other teams get off the cycle at some point in that process but the Bears cycle is endless

It's like the Cubs curse. It *will* break eventually, you just have to keep firing shots.

poles will get a chance to pick his new qb but the chances of eberflus being the coach still are virtually nil

maybe if we muddle to a respectable record off defense but our defense is trash
