I would say 0. Even Edmunds is just a rangy athlete with cover skills and probably slightly above average but just decent overall. We will know in a couple of years the quality of the draft but I definitely didn't love it.

Edmunds and Edwards were top 10 LBs last year. In fact, PFF (I know) ranked them both as top 10 guys for this year.

Does any really believe Fields is going to attempt more than 15 passes this Sunday?

I honestly don't konw what htey'll do.  I could see them telling him "scerw it, just start throwing, quit trying to overread." I could see them doubling down on what they did last week. I could see them going full college-style wildcat.

Apologies as I’m sure someone has posted this already, but I just need to be extra sure we’ve all watched the JT O’Sullivan video about last week (and specifically Fields): https://youtu.be/FiiK21VzI_o?si=CKq1tdz-FGVcNVs-

Simultaneously the most depressing and hilarious thing I think I’ve ever seen.

It's just so relentless. Almost like everyone was taking turns screwing up.  Hopeless play design, then a good play design and Justin Fields no-reads wide open recievers, then a play where the offensive line does something shockingly dumb.  Repeat the cycle over for the entire game.

The phase "sabotage mode" kept coming up and it cracked me up.  Nate Davis declining to block his man and instead shoving his own center off of a successful block, leaving two guys with clear shots at Fields.  Braxton Jones just declining to block his guy then doing jumping jacks down the line because he doens't know what else to do during the play with no one to block.

It's completely inexplicable how much went wrong on Sunday.  Yes there is plenty of blame that can go to the players, but in general this reflects worst on the coaching staff BY FAR.  We looked like a bunch of amateurs out there and while its painful to watch every Bears fan needs to watch that video and absorb it.

That was the best part by far.

Just a completely wild thought, maybe wrong:  Could having so many players not knowing how to execute concepts be a side effect of prioritizing RAS so heavily?  Anytime you prioritize one thing, you're depriortizing others by implication, and emphasizing athleticism could mean de-emphasizing tehcnique and polish.

I think having less than great football players is a side effect of prioritizing athleticism and build in the draft, but it doesn’t have anything to do with knowing basics. Football is not that technical of a sport.

the idea that they were woefully unprepared due to horsefeathers coaching is so much easier and more likely to happen than grasping at cosmic star dust, like a professional athlete can’t process two but simple approaches. They aren’t too full of one thing or torn between two and therefor indecisive , they were simply unprepared

I really thought Kmet was going to take the snap and pitch to Fields, that probably would have worked.  Just Fields taking the direct snap would have worked, we all should have turned the game off after the idiocy of the first series.

That's really the best option, it's the only one that's going instill any confidence in Fields and has any possibility of being effective and sustainable.  Hit the horsefeathers button!

If he had pitched it to Fields, it may have been a touchdown. The second Kmet got under center the entire defense ran towards him.

I thought about that as well, the entirety of the Green Bay defense was bunched at the line of scrimmage.  Fields gets the pitch goes left and he's gone.

Read some articles condemning Eberflus because he said he didn't know why DJ Moore was targeted so few times.  Not, that much of vitriol and doom boner-ing isn't deserved but, this is taking to the extreme.  I'm certain he pissed as all of us, he's got eyes, he knows they played like crap, failed to execute, etc. But, I don't think he wanted to throw his offensive coordinator and players under the bus, which is exactly what media was looking to bait.

The media was going to be brutal on the Bears this week no matter what they said.  All that matters is what we see on the field, and we need to see a lot better on Sunday.

Why are we blaming the media for this stuff? Eberflus is in way over his head. He’s a goober and has been since the beginning, cowardly decision after cowardly decision last season. A defensive minded head coach whose defense does not pose a challenge to opposing teams. He explicitly said he did not want to call defensive plays because he wanted to focus on all aspects of the team and he is completely clueless about the offense.

This is not a Chicago media story. This is a Chicago Bears front office and coaching staff story.

No doubts about that, how do allow your defense to just lay back in the manner they did last Sunday?  Isn't blitzing a young QB making his first start football 101?

Yes, but it's also against everything the Tampa-2 scheme prides itself on. This "scheme" is designed to get pressure with the front 4 only. Of course, you'd think they'd actually put more resources into said area if that is the case.
