Tony doing big time Tony things today in the doubleheader. Trying to get years worth of NL managing into the handful of interleague road games they have.

Brings in Hendriks with 2 outs in bottom nine, double switches him in to the spot that made the last out in top 9. Then puts him out at second base for the top of the tenth, even though, according to this link: https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-announces-new-features-for-2020-season (yes it's a year old, assume it still applies) you don't have to put your pitcher out there. Eventually gets to a first and third, one out situation, Billy Hamilton (who started, on purpose I assume) at the plate. They try to steal second with Leury Garcia for some reason, he gets thrown out, Hamilton strikes out, oops.

Then in the bottom Winker, OPSing 1.066 comes up with guys on first and third, and Larussa chooses to pitch to him and not load the bases for backup first baseman Kyle Farmer (career .654 OPS) and Suarez (.556 OPS this year). Single, game over.

The only reason the catcher made a throw to second on the attempted steal in that inning was because a pitcher was on 3rd and he knew wouldn't try to score if he threw to second. In a normal situation Garcia would have been able to take 2nd uncontested.

He laughably botched that game. Sox fans have to be loving their manager right now.

Tony admitted that he didn't know the rule. Lol.

Enough with the DUI talk let's focus on the baseball stuff.

Given his age and long break between managing gigs, not a surprise to see him asleep at the wheel.

Man he sucks. Basically every "unwritten" rule is just about protecting the fee-fees of some coddled loser.

How can you get bent out of shape about anything when a team uses a non-pitcher as a pitcher? The White Sox are a good young team but TLR will always find a way to turd it up.

Tony LaRussa and his stupid unwritten roles and no fun in baseball horsefeathers is a big reason why I loathed the Cardinals so much. Matheny carried the torch and was almost as bad. Shildt hasn't been nearly as bad which must be why I don't hate the Cardinals quite as much as I used to (though I still hate them).

Way to manage a clubhouse.

Of course he didn’t. Not only was it more unwritten rules BS but it was a white guy throwing at a non-white guy.

Also, classic TLR here:

I remember one time a Cubs player hit a Cards player with a slider or curve and the Cards threw at a Cubs player the next inning.

He should be fired over this. Not remotely joking. But of course if this wasn't what Reinsdorf wanted he wouldn't have hired him to begin with.

He needs to spend more time brushing up on the written rules of baseball.

His continued defense of the Twins in this situation is absolutely mind-boggling. Your dude could have been seriously injured if Duffy missed, but that's totes cool because the Twins' fee fees got hurt.

Do not listen to this at work unless you have headphones in. But you really should listen to this.
