When NBC sports replayed the game; due to time constraints they magically removed the inning that had the call.

What's especially sad is Reinsdorf is probably the best owner in Chicago and this is 100% on him. He had a young, fun team on the rise and decided to take a huge smelly dump on the whole thing by hiring a guy who has no business in a current mlb locker room. This goes beyond "loyalty" or whatever has convinced him to keep Kenny around as long as he has.

I have to say, I know a lot of smarmy sox fans and they deserve this; but dammit I wish he didn't also own the Bulls.

I'm going to need to check your sources on this one.

If it's not Jerry it's either Ricketty or Wirtz 2.0, and while they both have recent titles I'd say the road has gotten much rougher lately. The bloom might be off the rose for both.

McCaskey is DFL.

Letting Kopech start today's game despite Kopech being in obvious pain during warmup would have made Dusty proud.

At least knee/leg issues don’t ever lead to arm/shoulder issues. So Tony dodged a bullet there.

As much as we complain about Ricketts, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Reinsdorf.

They all horsefeathering suck so it’s not even worth my time comparing. But yes leaving politics out of it id take Ricketts over JR. just need to decide if it’s worse to be an outward trump supporter or a quiet one.

If it's just based on merely dollars, Laura could be out lifting her weight among all Chicago owners. Plus Reinsdorf is pretty split in his political donations. Not sure if he is a quiet Trump supporter.

In any case a damned way to pledge pro sports support. Could take up WNBA fandom I guess.

I have a few WS friends that are normal otherwise, they hate TLR.

I mean the dude fell asleep in the dugout this year. If you can't fire him give him a window seat in upper management.

It's too bad or perhaps, not, that WS fans got a reincarnation of the 2004 Cubs this year. A tremendously frustrating team to watch right down to the shitty managing.

Reminds me more of the 2009 Cubs. The 2004 team still won 89 games. 2009 they never got going, despite a garbage division like the WS this year.

I can see both comparisons, but the 2004 was built to win and there were big expectations. The 2009 team was a zombie version of the team that won 97 games the year before when the Trib decided to cut payroll. There were expectations but I don't think anyone was too shocked that they were hovering around .500 most of the year. This Sox team was supposedly built to win and while their record closer resembles the 2009 Cubs, the sense of disappointment and dislike of the team is more comparable to 2004 imo.

I like the 09 comparison. Piniella phoned it in for the last half of the season and slept-walked through the first half of 2010 before finally stepping away. As I recall, there were health issues in his family that may have drawn his attention away.

Nothing really to do with this thread, but 2003 seems like it was just yesterday and next year it will be 20 years.

Wood

Zambrano

Clement

Sammy

Alou

Aramis

What a team. I think that year took a few years off my life.

Both are certainly applicable, 2004 still resonates, losing 7 of their last 9, losing 2 of 3 against the Mets, 3 of 4 vs. the Reds, Hawkins serving up that meatball to Victor Diaz, didn't that season end with Kerry Wood taking a bat to Sosa' boom box?

Gotta love a manager who has zero qualms about letting his own players exacerbate their injuries.

He did the same thing with Kopech the other day too. Was allowed to start despite clearly not being healthy. His velocity was down. They let him face 4 batters and he gave up a hit, walked two and hit one before being removed. He’s now on the IL.

They seriously tanked for 3 seasons to get this. They still have the ability to salvage their core but it’s not gonna be easy.

This, the Phillies, and the rule changes should honestly be enough to keep large market teams from going full tank again
