If the season ended today, Illinois would be the 1 seed in the Big Ten tourney.

And the 8-9 game would be Wisconsin-Northwestern.

Maybe it's his similar look to Billy Clyde, but I can't help but think raging alcoholic whenever I see Sean Miller

I'm pretty sure he is a raging alcoholic. And a raging douche bag.

Iowa State falling victim to some Phog magic, or just getting rammed by the refs. Oh wait that's the same thing.

it's the gypsies.

Thomas Robinson just clotheslined a kid, no call.

in the first half he elbowed railey in the neck. they didn't call a foul...they just stopped play and talked to him. robinson called for one foul on the day.

isu pissed this one one away though. i [expletive] hate chris allen. i think izzo just kicked him off the team for being [expletive] terrible.

Thought it was interesting that Hoiberg sat white for that stretch toward the end of the game.

ISU looked pretty good. I'm very surprised MU beat them in Hilton. Great games by Withey and Taylor for KU.

Iowa has played the toughest league schedule (by a decent margin) in the toughest conference in the country and is 3-3.

With the remaining schedule I think they're definitely going to get to my goal of 8-10 in the Big Ten which would have them in the mix for an NIT bid. Get to 9-9 and they're 17-14 overall and probably safe. And yes this is probably the most anyone has rooted for or discussed an NIT bid in January on this board.

Along with Minnesota winning at Indiana, Northwestern beating MSU, Iowa winning at Wisconsin/Minnesota, and PSU beating Purdue, it's getting to the point where any win in conference is a good win.

Except at home vs. PSU/Nebraska. Those are expected.

An NIT for a program that has been as bad as they've been the last few years and hell, earlier this year, is a big positive step.

I have no idea what to make of the Hawkeyes. When they're not upsetting ranked teams, they look absolutely, positively awful. What a bi-polar team.

Here's my summation:

-They went into a funk during and after the Creighton game. The rotation was too deep, the defense was atrocious and the new guys didn't know how to play with the experienced guys. This was exasperated by Cartwright and Basabe being completely awful.

-Then they played pretty well in December. The UNI game was a 20 point loss but it was a 2 point game with 9 minutes left when officiating chaos broke out and UNI attempted 87 free throws. The last 3 non-conference games were impressive.

-In the Big Ten you have two outliers against the two most talented, athletic teams who also guard the hell out of you. They actually played really well in the first half against OSU but couldn't make anything. MSU was just not adjusting to how the game was being played, being soft and why Fran thought he had to start slamming chairs.

The other 4 games they've played well. Purdue was winnable but they had too many defensive breakdowns which cost them a home game when the offense was solid. The 3 wins have been solid efforts all around.

They're inconsistent and will remain inconsistent but getting much better. They have some depth, take care of the ball and have multiple options that can score which is why it always comes down to their defense and rebounding. Unfortunately those are the two most inconsistent parts of their game. The shitty part of it is if they even show up for the Campbell game and play at half this level against Clemson they would be 13-6, 3-3 and actually have a shot at the tournament with a 10-8 Big Ten record that now looks possible.

UConn remains a wildly athletic, big team. Last couple years that played right into ND's hands, today it did not. Too bad, but if Brey can squeeze a 9-9 or 10-8 Big East season out of this squad he needs a statue or something.

Fully preparing myself for a beatdown by OSU today. I can see Zeller getting into some foul trouble and Sullinger just having his way.

This is the start of a big road stretch for IU.

@OSU

@Nebraska

Penn St

@Wisconsin

Iowa

@Michigan

@Purdue

Does anybody think IU could go 4-3 in this stretch? That would involve two road wins...hmmmm.

Well, they will win at Nebraska (Nebraska is really bad). So they just need to get 1 from @ Wisconsin/Michigan/Purdue. They should be able to win one of those games. I would say 4-3 is quite likely in that stretch, while 5-2 isn't out of the question, even assuming a loss @OSU today.
