I predict Purdue is going to lose a low scoring gritfest tonight against Bucky and it's going to be due to our putrid free-throw shooting.

Pomeroy's system also indicates Wisconsin has played the second easiest schedule in the B1G so far, which can't be good news for them. Fortunately, they get PSU, Nebraska and Iowa twice each (well, maybe not Iowa, since they already have a home loss to them).

If Purdue didn't suck at free throw shooting I would be reasonably confident based on the way Bucky has been playing. That being said, in consecutive order, we beat the crap out of Illinois, got whipped by Penn St. and then beat up Minny on the road. So, they could kill Bucky or get blown out tonight, I'm just feeling a low scoring gritfest.

Oh, and Wisconsin has only beaten Purdue two times at Mackey, in the history of Mackey, which I believe was built in 67'.

i don't want to hear about bad free throw shooting...isu was 13-25 last night and lost by 7. royce white had two airballs and was a hair from a third.

lol Purdue. Down 12 and lucky they're not down 30. Love the 4-11 free throw shooting. Such a spastic team. Maybe they'll come back you never know with this group.

Ken Pomeroy agrees

Yeah I like that he's added that.

Iowa has played the hardest thus far by a decent margin. The next two are home vs. Michigan and at Purdue, then after playing Nebraska at home they go to Indiana. Fortunately the back half eases up a ton. The last 9 games they play 5 at home (3 of them are PSU, Minnesota and Northwestern) and the road games are PSU, Nebraska, Northwestern and Illinois. It's a pretty extreme split.

Gotta love Verdell getting booed at home. He needs to stay off the floor now that Roth and Sheehey are better offensively and defensively than he is. Nice if Watford would have showed up.

He destroys so many possessions. That was hard to watch.

Like I said, I don't see any bad losses for this team. :banghead:

Ha yeah. I could sort of just feel this -- or something similar soon -- coming. The defensive performances/effort has really slipped the last three games. They have not played that well since the early 15-point lead against Michigan; I think you could say they had been coasting. They had also managed to win every close game so far. This team still has such a small margin for error that it was always going to be difficult to avoid some slip-ups. And Minnesota was going to be very hungry for a win, and they're not a bad team.

I was hoping that they could beat Minnesota and the expected loss at Ohio State would serve as the "reset" I think the team needed. I was also hoping to avoid bad losses at home (it is not real logical, but I probably would feel better if they had lost to Penn State and won tonight).

My statement was based on my faith in Crean to get this team ready. A team that suffered thru what IU did the last 3 years, has no business coasting against anybody. I figured, even though success was new to this team, that he would keep them grounded.
