Does Yahoo Sports have a crack investigative reporting team or are they the only ones trying?

I think a lot of what it is, is Bloggers sending info into Yahoo Sports and having them connect the dots.

Yahoo also isn't in bed with the NCAA like ESPN is with their billions of dollars of tv deals.

I find it real convenient for checking scores without having to go to ESPN

I always have, but they've been pretty spotty lately when there are a lot of games going on. They were way behind today and Saturday on NCAA scores

Saw this tweet posted on another forum with no link to who actually posted it. Can anyone verify this?

Since 2006 NCAA sanctioned 27 schools for violating bylaw 10.1. Of 12 coaches,1 kept job.
Ohio State self-reported a violation of NCAA Bylaw 10.1, which bans "unethical conduct."

I think that's true. The Bylaw Blog tweeted that the only coach to survive it was Alcorn State Head Women's Basketball Coach Shirley Walker.

I just re-read that statement. It says 27 schools, but only 12 coaches. I am confused.

How many schools has Kelvin Sampson coached for?

Since 2006, the NCAA has sanctioned 27 schools for violating bylaw 10.1, which requires coaches and others to be truthful and forthcoming about possible NCAA violations. Of the 12 coaches involved, only one kept his job. The others either resigned or were fired by their schools.

Fulmer Cup news:

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn coach Gene Chizik has dismissed four players from the national champions after they were arrested and charged with robbery.

Auburn police say Mike McNeil, Antonio Goodwin, Shaun Kitchens and Dakota Mosley were each charged Friday morning with five counts of first-degree robbery, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of third-degree theft of property.

Police said in a statement that three black males entered a residence at 12:25 a.m. and one was armed with a handgun. Mosley is white.

Two Michigan State football players were arrested early Thursday morning after an incident at a bar in Aspen, Colo.

According to officials at the Pitkin County Jail, Brian Linthicum was arrested for third-degree assault and eluding police and Max Bullough was charged with minor in possession of alcohol and eluding police.

Both players are scheduled to appear in Pitkin County Court on April 19. Michigan State students are on spring break this week.

Why is it that there's parity in college football, but the same schools always dominate the Fulmer Cup race?

CFT[/url]"]Speaking to John Barr of ESPN.com, Cicero reveals that he informed Tressel in the series of emails exchanged between the two starting last April that Terrelle Pryor and DeVier Posey were the two players he knew of that had potentially received impermissible benefits. In other words, Tressel had information connecting his star quarterback — and only real option at the position when the likes of Joe Bauserman (guffaw) and Ken Guiton (chuckle) are next on the depth chart — to NCAA violations and sat on the 411 for nine months, all the while lying to his school and the NCAA about what he knew.

I'm not Hawkeye, but he's a very talented back. He ran for 500+ yards as a true freshman behind Shonn Greene in 2008, and was slated to be the starter in 2009 before blowing out one of his knees in preseason drills. He came into 2010 back at full strength and looked great in fall camp, then seemed to be hitting his stride before blowing out his other knee against Arizona. He's got good speed and quicks, and decent size. If he can stay healthy, he should do big things in the Gateway.

Jewel Hampton transfers to SIU. hawkeye, give me first-hand info.

He's really effing good. He was really under-recruited out of high school. Iowa's long-time RB coach who is now retired loved him. Ferentz talked about how they loved his film and couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting more attention.

As Ryno said his true freshman year he was really solid as a true freshman backing up Shonn Greene and seemed to take on Greene's running style as the year went on. Missed all of '09 with the ACL so we had two use two freshman all year. Last year coming out of camp the players and coaches were raving about him. Former player I'm friends with was hearing that he was more explosive and stronger than before the injury. Looked a little rusty his first game back against ISU, then really looked good against Arizona before going down with the knee again.

He ran with a really shady crew from everything I heard and the dismissal was supposedly for refusing to take a drug test because he knew he would fail and it wasn't a first offense. If he's healthy and stays out of trouble he should be the best back in that conference.

...if they were that strapped for cash, then I'd have to consider this more proof that AU doesn't pay players...but seriously..armed robbery? It's a shame that some kids don't make the most of the opportunity given to them and instead resort to this type of thuggish behavior. I hope they rot in jail for scaring the hell out of their victims and embarassing the AU family. Let's stay out of the news unless it's regarding winning football games or being charitable or such, howaboudit?

McNeil was the only starter, and he will be missed during the first part of 2011. AU has a couple of highly rated incoming safety candidates and won't be contending for a conference championship in 2011 anyway. Losing McNeil for the 2011 season will actually help the 2012 team by getting those younger guys some additional experience.

Armed robbery....that crap is embarrasing. That's not just a lapse in judgement. That's a significant mark against Chizik on my scorecard even though he acted swiftly.
