I keep hearing "top 10-12 program" and wonder what it means. Is that top 10-12 historically, top 10-12 over the last few years, or top 10-12 last season? They could at least narrow it down to make the guessing a little easier.

I could easily be wrong on this, but I generally take that term as top 10-12 historically who is also still in that group now - i.e. USC, OU, Nebraska, Florida, Alabama, etc. Of course, Oregon doesn't fit that profile and they're a top possibility, so who knows.

Tiderinsider is evidently 'reporting' that John Bond will appear on Scott Moore's new radio show in two weeks and play these supposed tapes. My perception is that the NCAA has already heard these tapes and John Bond is now cashing in on them....and Scott Moore gave the interview on which he mentioned these tapes as part of a marketing campaign for his show.

Isn't HBO or somebody doing a story on Bond' tapes or something like that? If so, that's another angle Bond and Moore could be pumping up.

I'm not going to link sports by brooks, but I'm told even he seems to think that Moore's assertions aren't accurate.

I'm sure you'd consider sports by brooks a solid source if he said otherwise

Brooks doesn't seem to have a bevy of his own sources. He just rehashes other reports, generally. He is a Georiga graduate who has been quick to regurgitate anything he can find that portrays AU in a negative light in recent times. he happens to be on the other side of the fence in this scenario which i thought was odd...i don't believe he's a solid source either way though...

SportsByBrooks is reporting that multiple ESPN sources have confirmed to him that Cowherd was referencing Oregon as the program about to be outed.

There has always been talking about the recruiting of Lache Seastrunk having a handler/street agent when he went to Oregon two years ago.

I'm hoping its USC again and Kiffen goes down in flames.

I know Dew is with me on this.

I hope not. They'd replace him with a good coach then.

It's all rumors right now but the UCLA message board I frequent singled out Lache as one of the guys being investigated.

how else would you convince a bunch of black guys from florida to come to a hippie college 3,000 miles away?

Haha, I'd rather see Florida or Alabama hammered, but USC/Kiffin would work fine for me.

Florida is my guess.

They were one I was thinking of also with Urban Meyer taking the Pete Carroll route and leaving right before punishment is handed down.

My vote would be for a team outside the SEC, other than USC.

...although, I'd probably gain some satisfaction watching the mouthbreathers in my state squirm again. They certainly sling enough fecal matter hoping some of it, any of it will stick. what would the media do if their darling Saban were being investigated?

Did Ohio State ever get any punishment from about 10 years back, when there were literally quotes from people about hundred dollar handshakes and the like? They're way overdue.

not to mention the loans/child care arrangements for balkan basketball players 10 years ago.

So anything new regarding the Cowherd comments earlier this week? Cowerd understands that people want scandal...he understands that discussions about mysterious, looming NCAA sanctions increase short term viewership.....or maybe there really was something behind his comments...

CFT[/url]"]In a tweet posted to his Twitter account early this morning, Oregon signee De’Anthony Thomas stated that he spoke to the NCAA on Wednesday. Thomas didn’t get into specifics, but, based on the “caps lock” button getting stuck, it didn’t sound like he enjoyed the experience.

“JUST GOT. OUT OF A MEETING WIT THE NCAA PEOPLE MAN IT FELT LIKE I WAS TALKING TO THE POLICE,” Thomas cyber-shouted very early this morning.

So, is this a part of the process of the Oregon football program being “outed for major recruiting violations”? Not necessarily. As noted by Bryan Fischer of CBS Sports.com in a tweet in response to the “uh-oh” vibe Thomas’ tweet induced, “[t]he NCAA speaking to Thomas doesn’t mean there’s violations going on in Eugene. They’re just speaking with him, do it w/ many recruits.”

The back story behind Thomas and his recruitment, though, makes this development a very intriguing potential data point. Thomas, a five-star recruit who was the No. 5 player in the country according to Rivals.com, was long thought to be a very solid verbal commitment to USC. The weekend before signing day last month, however, Thomas took an official visit to the Ducks, fueling speculation that he was leaning away from the school in his own backyard — he went to Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles — and toward the Trojans’ Pac-12 rivals.

That doesn't really sound like a big OMGSCANDAL but maybe it is just me?

The name Will Lyles has been very badly thought upon for a while on the texas boards with being a street agent for some time now and any recruit he is near will not get an offer. Seastrunk's recruitment is has been talked about for over a year now. The issue is that now the NCAA might be able to hit down on someone after the whole Cam Newton mismanaged debacle and try to set a real example. This seems to be a growing trend.

Every school that has had a connection to Lyles might want to call Iron Mountain tomorrow to schedule some express shredding. He has had some connections to several schools over the years.
