One way or another they need to decide where the game is being played almost immediately so both teams know what to prepare for and so the Bears can make the right travel plans. Waiting until the weekend to see if TCF can be prepared is not sufficient time.

Any doubt whatsoever needs to be resolved in the Bears' favor since the Vikings have responsibility for their field. They must bear (pun not intended) the entire inconvenience of their field being unplayable.

Maybe they should just forefit the game. That would be the break to end all breaks.

They could use the White Sox forfeiting a game when (old) Comiskey Park was unplayable following Disco Demolition Night as precedence to argue for a forfeit due to an unplayable field. :D

OK, back to reality.

when was this?

The Vikings have come to terms with Patrick Ramsey. I'd rather see Webb even though he may fail miserably. Ramsey has attempted 3 passes since '07 and 77 passes since 2004.

when was this?

Late 1970s or early 1980s (I don't recall the exact year). It was during Bill Veek's second stint as owner. It was a doubleheader (there were actually scheduled DHs back then) and anybody bringing a disco record to be burned was admitted free. Between games a bonfire was lit on the field and the records were burned. The fire damaged the field enough to make it unplayable for the second game, so the Sox had to forfeit the game.

The University of Minnesota prohibits sale of alcohol on campus, or at least did while I attended

Forgot about that, but wasn't alcohol was sold when the Bears played at U of I a few years back?

I'm a bit behind in the news this week. The Minny QB situation is in more limbo than where the game will be played?

I sat down to watch the Minnesota game on Monday night, only to find out that it was only showing on satellite. Watched the Ravens game instead. Was TJ that horrible or did he get hurt?

Even with all of the questions in the air, Minnesota will play harder in this game than they did against the Giants. They would love to play spoiler.

I think the game is going to be played at TCF Bank Stadium, but it is not for sure. They do have a TON of snow to remove with more on its way. The NFL also has to give it the final OK. They are working on making sure the pipes don't freeze (the stadium was never meant to be used past the middle of November) and getting the right equipment there (NFL video booth). I would guess the decision has to come either tomorrow or Monday. The media, including the MNF crew, needs to know where they are going.

TJ was really bad, got hurt, and then came back later.

Remember last year about this time the Bears had a home game against Minnesota when Minnesota really needed the game for home field. The Bears won. Maybe that is in the back of the Vikings' minds. It is also the Vikings 50th anniversary and they are recognizing all their greats. This could jack them up a little. Maybe they will want to play hard if this is Favre's last game. All I know is that any team can win if Adrian Peterson is running the ball for them. A sure to come Packers loss and a Bears win will mean the Bears clinch the NFC North.

ugh i really hate how this game is a Monday Nighter. Ideally we would just get it out of the way as a Sunday noon game and, probably, sew up the division, but now we gotta wait with all the artificial hype and chitter chatter because the pundits have nothing better to do and all the while I'll get more and more nervous.

A. Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park was Thur 12 July 1979.

B. Beer was sold at BEARS' games in Champaign in 2002 after much political wrangling.

C. Can somebody tell me.... Is TCF Bank Stadium a relatively new stadium (built in the last 15 years or so) or is it the same old U of Minn Stadium with a new name ???

Brad Biggs made it sounds this morning as though there is serious doubt that the game will be at TCF. Apparently, there's no heating coils under the field like there is in most NFL stadiums, so once they get the snow clear, there's a layer of ice underneath. Field condition is a major concern.

The Vikings really want to have it in Minny because of they're 50 year celebration or whatever, but he suspects the NFL will make a final announcement today on where the game will be held. He said that Atlanta is a possibility for a couple reasons. One, it doesn't give the Bears a "home field" advantage like Det, STL or Indy could. And two, the Monday night game next week is in Atlanta, so ESPN could just leave their equipment there over the Christmas week.

I would feel much more confident in a Bears win in the Georgia Dome than layer of ice TCF Field

Please let that happen.

It is a brand new stadium built just for the college team (which used to share the metrodome) that apparently was built for Southern California climates.

I've been to Atlanta a few teams and it was loaded with transplanted Chicagoans.

Yeah...Chicago fans are gonna be there whereever they end up. But I understand the thought process.

Really? I am in the middle. On one hand it puts a dome team where it's most comfortable - in a dome. On the other the Bears don't necessarily seem like a team that thrives in the elements, so a dome might not be the worst thing ever.

The Bears are not a cold weather team like the name/city suggests. But I'd take the Bears chances in cold weather vs. any team that plays in a dome or South Florida/Southern CA.

I just think that both teams play better in warm weather/domes and the Bears are a better team. Its on a neutral field without elements. Therefore the chances of the better team winning are higher. Not having them play on conditions that negate their speed, as well as getting the game out of Minnesota both help their cause considerably.

Bear weather obviously isn't real, but Lovie's Bears have had some huge performances in crappy cold conditions. Last year's Vikings game, the conference championship and late 2007 and 2008 games against the Saints. Another 2008 game against Jacksonville. And the 2007 blowout of Favre's Packers. They also had some big wins in late 2005.

I do think it's mostly about getting dome/warm teams out of their elements, but also getting Favre outside in the cold.

i think it depends upon the field conditions and how adept teams are at exploiting their pursuit defense.

No kidding. What a stupid, stupid move. The surface was frozen for the Iowa-Minnesota game in November. Guys were falling and trying to dig in to get any footing.

All I've heard is praise for TCF being this amazing new stadium and then you find out that it wasn't built to handle cold weather. In Minnesota.
