Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin returned to practice on Friday after spending a week at the Mayo Clinic seeking treatment for migraines that forced him to miss Minnesota's last two games.

Harvin told the paper he "definitely" plans to play Monday against the Bears.

Hopefully we can give him a whole new set of migraines to worry about.

He'll probably see quite a bit of action. Wildcat, end arounds, etc.

I'll be looking for it. Hopefully the Bears are, too.

Plenty of reasons to be worried about this game. Not only will Harvin be back, but Joe Webb rushed for 2400+ yards combined in his last two years at UAB. Of course it was against pretty weak competition, but the guy can run. Maybe start out with the Vick defensive gameplan? It doesn't take a genious to figure out between him and AP, the Vikings will come out running.

Cutler being protected is huge in this game. Not only for the success of the offense, but I'll be holding my breath everytime he's sacked on that hard surface. If he suffers another concussion (or any other injury) I don't see our season ending well.

joe webb rushing for 10,000 yards at uab still wouldn't be enough for me to be worried about him

that doesn't mean he can't still burn the bears, but those numbers mean literally nothing at the pro level for a quarterback

Multiple players and coaches have said that Webb is the best athlete on the team. He's 6'3, 220 with a 4.43 40 and a 42.5" vertical. His broad jump and shuttle time at his pro day were better than any at the combine and he did 21 reps at 225. He's just a freak athletically which is why they took him as a WR. Then he got to camp, showed off his big arm and they felt like he had all the intangiable stuff to merit leaving at QB.

The problem is that he's not all that accurate, probably won't make many good decisions and will turn the ball over. Two weeks ago he was the kickoff returner to start the game and was the #4 WR because of injuries. The only way he beats you is with his legs and possibly if you let Harvin get past you or Rice beat you on a deep jump ball. This is the perfect game to be a "bend but don't break" defense.

I'm glad he's starting though.

As the resident Vikings fan, if you had to put an honest percentage chance on the Vikings winning this game, what would you guess? 30%? 40%? More? Less?

Just curious. I won't let me self feel very comfortable at all about this game. In my pessimistic mind, Peterson is going to pretend it's his rookie year at Soldier Field again, and Webb is going to be Michael Vick.

There's a reason they were converting him to a WR. The Bears are going to stop the run and force Webb to beat them, which he will not be able to do.

The Bears had an athletic freak too. He could jump out of pools! They are going to make webb nickel and dime his way down the field, this i gotta see. IF the Bears lose this game with the division on the line this one will be earth shattering.

Speaking of Jarron Gilbert, I heard yesterday that he was signed to the 53-man of another team. I want to say the Jets. I'm sure Rex Ryan can fix whatever's wrong with him.

25-30% sounds about right. Adrian is questionable and even if he goes and is healthy we won't be able to run the ball. Both of our starting guards are out and it has taken a below average o-line and made it bad. He couldn't get to the line of scrimmage untouched against the Giants on Monday.

Webb is football fast. He had a 50ish yard touchdown run in the preseason against the 49ers where he just took off and made guys take bad angles. He'll probably be looking to run quite a bit also. If I were the Bears I wouldn't even rush my d ends up the field. Try to get some push up the middle, contain the edges with your ends and have your backers in their hook zones so he doesn't have any clear paths. If he can't gash you with a big run the only chance is winning some jump balls to Sidney or somehow getting Adrian and Harvin into space.

Favre officially not playing. Steve Hutchinson also ruled out.

There really is no excuse to lose this game.

Haven't you heard? The game is going to be played outside. In the cold. And there are no heating coils under the field, either. This game is a toss-up, at best.

I assume this is sarcasm?

If not, I don't understand why the weather would hurt a cold-weather team like the Bears more than the Vikings. Besides, the latest forecast now calls for a low of 22, which is quite a bit warmer than they projected before. I heard the field is "already softening" as well, but who knows what that really means.

Despite that, the Bears apparently practiced on an icy and frozen field at Northwestern today in preparation for TCF. Sounds like Lovie is doing his best to prepare the team.

The Bears aren't a cold weather team, at least not on offense

I remember a very good offensive performance against a good Minnesota team on MNF last year with temps close to zero.

They're definitely built for speed on offense, and snow really seems to hinder that. But I don't think the offense is slowed by the cold temps themselves.

Mike Martz wasn't the OC last year

I assume you're arguing that his offenses are built for domes? Perhaps. I just don't think the temps themselves make that big of a difference. It wasn't exactly warm during the Eagles game, which was easily the best this offense has been all year.

I think it's the precipitation, not the temperatures. The elements and poor field conditions negates the team's speed.

Bears fans, who do we want between the Eagles and Giants?

I think I want the Giants to win, and eventually take the division -- just in case we were to lose tomorrow night and need that tiebreaker

the team that you beat and not the one that mercilessly bludgeoned your QB?

I'm rooting for the Eagles. A Giants win gives them the head to head for the bye over us (if we can win tomorrow). An Eagles win keeps us in that spot. As someone pointed out earlier in the week, the WC is not very likely at this point, so I'm cheering for bye potential.

Too bad its 14-3 giants now

Posted

Vikings 7, Bears 3.

Bears defense dominates the game for ~55 minutes. Late in the fourth quarter, Adrian Peterson breaks free for a 70-90 yard touchdown run.

Posted

Well Giants up 24-3 at halftime.

If we can clinch tomorrow, we will be in a position where we are rooting for the Packers to beat the Giants next week to help out our bye hopes.

One step at a time though.
