The field at TCF Bank Stadium is frozen and blanketed by 5-foot snowdrifts. The concession stands weren't built to withstand temperatures below 30 degrees. There are no beer taps.

That is just awful awful awful*.

I see no good reason to attend.

I'm sure they can bring in those big ice tubs and fill them with man cans. [expletive], they won't even need ice. All is not lost.

My favorite thing is the concession stands were not built to withstand temps under 30. How does that happen, and why does that happen in a Minnesota stadium? They have to deal with some "unseasonably cold" temps in late November.

If I was a ticket holder for the dome I would be really pissed, but happier than Detroit.

Wouldn't it just be easier to play the damn thing at Ford Field again?

Easier but not a good idea. You have to give the fans a chance to see them at home. If a local stadium is available, and it is, that makes most sense.

Last available line is Bears -2.5, after seeing Minnesota -1.5 at beginning of week. But it is off, probably because of the QB question now that the stadium situation appears to be settled.

high of 11 on the day?

Yesterday I saw a game-time temp of 0. Favre weather. :)

Geez, I know they intended it to be a college field only, and it was probably built on the cheap, but how can their consession stands not be built to withstand temps below 30, as if it's not possible to get below 30 degrees in mid to late November in Minnesota. Also no beer taps? Again, I understand it's a college stadium but it's a bit strange that they didn't bother to have any plans for any other events but college athletics apparently. I'm assuming it's the only outdoor stadium in the Twin Cities area that is readily available in the summer for stuff like concerts or soccer games. They didn't consider additional revenue streams like that at all?

I think it's an on campus building, which can make it tough. Plus it's really not hard to bring in portable beer taps as well as portable plastic bottle selling stations.

Yeah I've actually driven around that area and seen the stadium, it is an on campus building but right on the fringes of campus. Obviously the campus is minutes from downtown Minneapolis, so pretty much the moment you step off campus you are near the center of MPLS with a lot going on. Your right though I didn't consider the effect of the stadium literally being on campus would have on holding non-campus related activities with heavy alchohol presence.

The weird thing about it is the weather usually takes a turn for the worse in November up there, and the Gophers still have a home game or two when it's really cold. Something doesn't quite add up if the concession stands can't withstand temperatures under 30 degrees in freakin' Minneapolis.

Given the issues the Univ. of Minnesota had with beer sales in the metrodome (alcohol banned from games after alleged sexual assault during game) I sense they decided it wasn't a good idea.

That doesn't mean it was a good idea to not build taps, but that might have affected decision-making.

Didn't he say this is definitely "it" though?

Yea, I know. Like anyone should believe what the King of all Drama Queens has to say.

He'll feel good in June and want to get the bad taste out of his mouth and end on his own terms instead of by injury. If the lockout extends into the summer as many believe it will, it frees him from any commitments.

I wouldn't even be shocked if it was with the Vikings depending on the coach situation. Tarvaris is done here. If they draft a future QB but want to give him a year, you're probably better off taking your chances on him recapturing the magic than signing any other journeyman QB that will be available.

I've tried drinking beer at Wrigley in April when it was 50 degrees.

You've "tried"? That implies that you failed and/or quit drinking beer because the temperature was 50. I refuse to believe that.

Do you not attend/tailgate any Iowa football or Bears games?

Seriously Bob, that's kind of pathetic. I've drank beer tailgating at Jets games that were 20 degrees mainly because that is the only point in attending a game you have no interest in. The good thing is the mountains are always blue.

Good thing too. I have a condition where I can't feel temperature. Those mountains are the only way I know it's cold.

I managed to get 3 or 4 in, but that's a really weak effort over a 3½ hour span.

I usually do not attend late-season Iowa games, and my tailgating consists of either rolling out of bed to turn the TV on or heading to a friend's house to watch the game indoors. I went to the Michigan game last year when it was about 25, and I was crying the whole time. Luckily I have a good friend who owns a house on Olive Ct so I spent my tailgating time in the basement eating hot food.

I believed every year that he was coming back after training camp. But now I don't know. He's been terrible. He's much more banged up than he has been in past years. He's leaving games left and right. I think it's for real this time. I can't imagine why a team would want him anymore.
