The Vikings are theoretically a 1.5 point favorite in this game, although that line is off and probably will be at least until they figure out what city they will play the game in.

Now this is a must win. A loss here after that embarrassing no show by just about everybody in the snow would put them back into the position of needing help to make the playoffs if/when they give up division to Green Bay. The defense was at its absolute most pathetic. They played like they did in the first half vs Detroit, all game long. It was Arizona @ Chicago 2009 all over again, but instead of unseasoanbly warm conditions, it was cold and snowy in December, what a shock. That game was pretty much everything I feared once this team finally played a consistently solid QB like Brady. And Cutler's picks were almost a guarantee once they went down big and got desperate.

Maybe the defense needed a "shut the hell up" game, but my impression is most of these guys will just blow off this result as meaningless given Green Bay's loss, the conditions and other nonsense. The offense remains a work in progress. They still can't run the ball.

Hopefully they figure things out in a hurry and Minnesota is somehow negatively affected by their own personal snow bound fiasco. Chicago was bound to lose one of these late season games and they probably have another loss in them somewhere. But this one better not be it.

The defense has been too cocky since the Philly game, imo. They need to feel like they have something to prove. But yeah, this is an absolute must win game.

It's pretty nutty that we're a 9-4 ballclub looking to win just ONE more game out of 3.

This NFL woman, she is a crazy one.

The real bummer is that even if Minnesota pulls off the upset vs the Giants tonight, and then the Giants crap out the rest of the season to fall behind Chicago, Tampa has 2 easy wins coming up and will probably be ahead of Chicago if they manage to lose to Minnesota.

I don't see Tampa winning 2 more, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them lose all 3. I honestly don't see them beating Detroit, and I doubt they do anything in New Orleans.

I see them beating Detroit and Seattle at home and losing in New Orleans, unless the Saints have nothing to play for (which is something Chicago can't count on in their final game).

What time is the Bears/Jets game scheduled for? I just realized I made plans that day and I'm going to have to figure out how to be able to watch that game.

Tampa's been pretty bad to nearly average at home this season, which is why losing all 3 wouldn't surprise me much.

Do you not have the internet?

It's a noon game on CBS but I'm not sure if they have done the flex scheduling for that week.

It could happen, but I wouldn't count on it.

I don't know what to expect from Green Bay, Chicago, OR Tampa in a given week, regardless of competition.

I think this thing is completely wide open. Sure, we can talk about likelihoods, but the range of error on picks is huge. We've got so-called contenders putting up stinkers against bottom feeders all over the league.

I'll just offer this up: I don't have a clue what is going to happen. I think the Bears could be in trouble if they lose to Minny next week. But the truth is, I really don't know much of anything when it comes to the NFL. Maybe we lose to Minny and come storming back and beat the Jets & GB. Not likely, but I can't really say.

I'm counting on a Bears win over the exposed Jets the day after Christmas. That team just isn't anything special and shouldn't provide too big of a threat unless Sanchez somehow completely turns it around. Plus, they could get the crap beat out of them physically against the Steelers and then face a completely different defense the next week. I think Chicago loses in Green Bay on the last week, which is why I think it all comes down to this Minnesota game. Obviously things can change, but the way they stand right now, this is as close to a do or die game as they can have without it literally being a playoff game.

But the Lions still haven't won a road game since 2007, Seattle has been very poor on the road, and Tampa has managed to beat every single bad to mediocre team they've played. They'll likely be close games (especially the Lions game) but TB probably has to be decent favorites in both of them.

Early 6 point favorites against the Lions.

It's scheduled for the early afternoon slot according to the Bears' web site. I don't know whether that's subject to change with flexible scheduling.

I'm pretty sure Brad Biggs said the Jets game wasn't going to be changed

The current Sunday night game, Cincy/San Diego is a complete dog that has to be switched out. The NFL announces 12 days in advance and will take it's time on this one since it's nearing the end of the season (they can announce week 17 6 days in advance). Chicago/NY is huge. Two big city teams with major followings both in need of wins for playoff hopes. They might want to hold back the Bears for a weeky 17 sunday night game. NYG/GB is currently slated as a 4:15 game, but that could be a night game. I think Fox has the doubleheader. But I think it's still a possibility.

The Bears beat Minny and Green Bay loses to the Pats next week and the division is clinched, right?

No

I'm pretty sure it is. That gives us a 2 game lead with 2 to play and we win on the tiebreaker if it ends in a tie.

It is true. I just wanted to throw everyone off since we answered that a couple of times earlier in the last few pages. Sorry I'm in a sarcastic kind of mood.

If the Bears only plan on winning 1 game the rest of the year, this one should be it.

Why this one over Week 17 at Lambeau? In fact, even if the Bears lose against the Vikings and Jets, and the Packers beat the Pats and Giants, we still win the division with a win in Week 17. In that scenario, the Bears would be 9-6 going into the final game, with GB at 10-5. Thus, a Bears win would put both teams at 10-6 with the Bears winning the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Yes, but it's probably a lot easier to "choose" to win this game than Green Bay.
