You guys are so freaked out about the stadium that no matter what happens negatively to the Bears, you have your built-in excuses.

If anything, not playing in the Metrodome should favor the Bears

so?

It's shameful

Up to 8 inches of fresh snow is possible Monday through Tuesday in Twin Cities, with a half-inch per hour coming down during Monday's game.

This is going to be awesome.

TCF is perfectly capable of hosting an nfl game.

With plenty of notice, or not in freezing weather.

and no food or beer or foam hands

Drinking at a sporting event is pretty morbid anyway

Monday night at TCF Bank Stadium, the Bears would be wise to follow the advice of Walter's brother, Eddie, a Vikings kick returner from 1980 to '82 who played in the last outdoor game in the Twin Cities 29 years ago.

"My suggestion for the Bears is to keep in mind there are two teams out there, and the team that wants to play will ignore the weather and the team that doesn't will remember how cold it is,'' Payton said Sunday. "It's more of a test mentally than physically.''

seriously, why is everyone so annoyed by TCF? is it because you wanted them to play in Detroit? Indy?

I know you're treating it like your baby, but you have to realize that a stadium in Minneapolis that doesn't have concession stands or bathrooms meant to be used in freezing weather is idiotic, and that's not touching a field that shouldn't be used in this weather (leaving aside the question of whether or not that's bad design).

it also means a home crowd that will likely be out of the game by mid-2nd quarter, barring colossal failure on our part

True, the Vikings are getting screwed terribly in home advantage and, almost certainly, financially, by the stadium situation,

All is not lost if we lose this game. The Bears could still clinch next week with a Packers loss and a win over the Jets. The Giants go into GB next week with a chance to clinch a WC spot, and needless to say are probably pretty pissed about what happened today. Them winning isn't that far-fetched.

The Bears meanwhile draw the Jets, whose win today was definitely good news. It means next week becomes less of a must-win for them, having all but wrapped up a playoff spot in the AFC.

Despite that scenario, tomorrow obviously remains by far the easiest route to get in, and if we can't beat a 5-8 Vikings team who is starting a rookie third-string QB, I don't like our chances to beat the Jets or Packers either one.

Maybe it's just the jerk in me, but I have absolutely no sympathy for the Vikings and find this whole situation hilarious. It's like if it would happen to the Cardinals.

The real bummer is that even if Minnesota pulls off the upset vs the Giants tonight, and then the Giants crap out the rest of the season to fall behind Chicago, Tampa has 2 easy wins coming up and will probably be ahead of Chicago if they manage to lose to Minnesota.

I don't see Tampa winning 2 more, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them lose all 3. I honestly don't see them beating Detroit, and I doubt they do anything in New Orleans.

Damn, I got one right.

Last week proved that snowy, cold conditions don't favor the Bears.

I don't give a hoot what happens to the Vikings financially as a result of this. That's their problem.

Look, the Bears should win this game. But there are 44 players on the offense/defense squads. 42 of them are not QBs.

If we learned anything this season, it's that teams can pull off wins with depth chart QBs (Detroit), or at least put up a solid effort (GB).

All I'm saying is that this game is not a given. If the Bears treat it that way, I wouldn't be surprised to see them lose. Maybe it isn't the end of the world if it happens, but it would be a huge missed opportunity for a club that isn't really impressing anyone heading down the stretch.

It's going to be hilarious to watch Packers fans forgive the Vikings for the years of hatred and the Favre thing if they win this game.

This. I'm willing to bite that bullet.

We need to keep pace with the Eagles. As long as we both win our divisions and finish tied in the standings, we get the bye due to the head-to-head win.

The Vikings aren't being screwed out of a goddmamn thing. It's their crap stadium that failed and their inability to set things straight a week after the fact.

Yeah, I don't see how the Vikings are getting screwed out of HFA. The weather conditions are going to favor them and a bad field should level the playing field. If anything, I think this helps Minnesota more than anything else.

That said, Bears win this game by 2 TD's instead of 4.

I don't think the Vikings are getting screwed at all. But how in the hell do the weather conditions favor the indoor team vs. an outdoor cold weather team?

the bears lose by 4 touchdowns and the packers win the division.
