Good, he only got to steal half a Big East POY award before leaving.

You think he wasn't deserving? You could argue he changed how the other team played more than anyone. He also averaged the most blocks per game in Big East history and considering Ewing, Deke and Mourning all played in the Big East that's saying a lot.

If you are horrifyingly bad at half the game, you can't be player of the year.

And he got totally schooled - twice - by the guy he 'shared' the award with.

You think 13.6 points on 64% shooting is horrifyingly bad? Sure he only really scores due to his size but so does Shaq and many other centers in the history of the game. Heck if you want to go into it DHoward only scores because he's as strong as anyone and is more athletic than anyone who has the size to not get bullied. Thabeet is very much a clone of Dikembe and Deke had a great pro career. He averaged a very respectable amount of points on extremely efficient shooting and on defense no one really touches him. I can see him not getting the award and would have been fine with Blair winning it outright but to say Thabeet wasn't deserving is you allowing your hatred of him to get in the way of your judgement. Both Blair and Thabeet had dominant seasons and both could have been given the award outright without it being a ridiculous decision. In the end they both had great seasons without either one truly standing out above the other hence why they shared it.

It's easy to shoot 64 percent when 80 percent of your shots are layups or dunks over guys four inches or more shorter. And in the NBA, he's not going to be allowed to shove, go over the back and hip-bump guys in midair to get blocked shots like he did at UConn.

Whether or not he'll be any good in the NBA I don't know. I'm just glad that twit is out of my college hoops conference.

Just about any dominant center scores predominantly on dunks and layups. Shaq bullies his way to the basket and does 4 foot hook shots or dunks. Howard just jumps over his opponent. It's no different except that this guy plays at UCONN, who you hate, and has gotten a lot more pub than your boy Harongody. If Thabeet gets no credit for averaging 14 pts on 64% shooting because it wasn't so much skill as size then the award should just be given to whatever player is deemed the most skilled regardless of how well he did. The fact of the matter is Thabeet was efficient on the offensive end and completely dominant on the defensive end.

As for his pro prospects I think he will be a very good pro. Will he ever be a good scorer? No. He could averaged double figures because even against pro centers he will be bigger than most but he will be a great rebounder and a great shot blocker. A lot of people think he got all his blocks because he is just so big and blocked the smaller centers that exist in college but if you watch the games and read the scouting reports he actually has great timing, is really good at sliding over, and has ridiculously long hands. I see him as a 8-12 point scorer, 9-11 rebounder, and 2-4 shot blocker over the course of a 12 year career or thereabouts. His size and great athletic ability for how large he is will keep him in the league for a longtime.

You can point to any player though and find a weakness in his game. Here's one, sure Luke Harangody scores a lot, but that's easy to do when you never pass. Sure Mike Daivs led the Big Ten in rebounding, but that's because no one else on his team can.

I have no problem with Thabeet as player of the year, he completely changes the game without having to score.

So are tall guys not allowed to win awards because they're at an unfair advantage. Layups and dunks are the easiest shots in basketball, players should take as many of them as possible. You can make an argument for Blair, or maybe somebody else as a longshot, but Thabeet was definitely deserving.

I didn't mean to sidetrack the thread. Thabeet will need to develop a game outside 2 feet from the basket offensively to be a major factor in the NBA. I'm just glad the Bulls won't be in position to take him, we don't need any more big-guy projects.

I kinda agree, but don't think he is a huge project. He can already impact the game with his defense. He is only a projsct on the offensive end. His defense would help us, but we do need a low post scorer.

Draft Express has the Bulls getting DeJuan Blair at 16 and Sam Young at 26.

I could live with that. Blair isn't going to remind anyone of Kevin McHale but he'll be a demon on the glass.

Young is a guy who could be an effective two way player if he improves his 3 point shot.

Same here. Something tells me the Bulls are not going to hold onto both 1st rd picks. Only problem with the Sam Young pick would be the Bulls already have Salmons and Deng at SF, so either Salmons or Young would have to move over to SG.

Drafting teammates? It could help the transistions to the NBA a little bit easier for both players. With that said, Bulls will not have both 1st rd picks by draft night.

Blair would be fantastic value at 16. I think he should go in the lottery, even if he's 6'6" or 6'7".

I'd love to somehow get a SG if Ben Gordon is gone.

Blair's gonna be a good pro player. Never will be a star like the guy he gets compared to (Barkley), but he will get some team 15-10 in his prime.

Going by this mock draft, the Grizzlies would have three first round point guards on their roster next year (Conley, Jennings and Collison).

I don't really understand taking Jennings over Tyreke Evans, either.

They must've updated their mock; it's now James Johnson at 16 and Hansbrough at 26. Draft Express doesn't take need into consideration with their mocks this early, so I'd take it with a grain of salt.

Yeah, it mentions at the top that the latest update was Saturday.
