  1. If anyone can help with those Pass10n shirts by either selling me an extra one of theirs or pointing me in the right direction, I would be extra appreciative. As a Cubs fan with Juvenile Diabetes, Ron has a special place in my heart. I was hoping those shirts would go on eBay after they were given away, but I haven't been able to find any.
  2. I'm pretty sure he's asking Quade who the heck all the kids are in the other one.
  3. I'm going out on a limb and saying Guzman starts the year on the DL or the like. I believe he is out of waivers as well correct (too lazy to look it up)? So that would be a way to keep him around, if he does pull off a recovery.
  4. Why would someone pay about $1,000 to see 7 or so losses? There are a lot of games on the list that are weekday day games in April (cold), May, and September (when they are out of it), that you won't be able to give away if you don't go. I wish they would go to a smaller set of games like the Cardinals "Pujols Packs."
  5. Pipe meet dream. Anyone I suppose is available in theory. This one, however, should be filed away in believe it when you see it land and not be spoken of again.
  6. Just that any time you turned on the radio, you could tell whether the Cubs were winning or losing by the tone of his voice before you knew the score. Thinking of him got me through my time in the hospital when I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Oh and see the sig.
  7. Never. It's an excuse. "Clutch" is a useless distinction. It is useless as a predictive tool, but this article was backwards looking. It just highlights the fact that the results have been unclutch. No one here would suggest clutch performance is a good metric to use when evaluating an individual player's expected future performance, but that doesn't mean you have to turn a completely blind eye to macro results that seem pretty consistent over the course of a decade. It is at least worth considering whether there are outside identifiable factors. I will agree that it is too easy to make excuses for repeated failures, though, so seeing something like this can be kind of irksome. Wow, 6.5 wins in 2004. And this only counts high-leverage plate appearances, right? It doesn't include the high leverage innings blown by the bullpen? Yeesh, that hurts. If it's useless a predictive tool, it is useless as retrospective tool too. It's a mental masturbation tool, if anything. The main reason why it's useless in this instance is that "clutch" isn't a team statistic any more than wins are a starting pitcher statistic. Their are other reasons too but I'm not wasting any more time with the nonsense. Two non sequitors in one post. Wow. Someone should look into this whole curse thing.
  8. watch espn for live sports and don't ever watch it otherwise. i guess pti is okay... maybe. I agree, thank god for the NFL and MLB networks. You know its bad when Deion Sanders is better to listen to than anyone on Disney's channel. I have no doubt that this was all just a ratings ploy done by ESPN and thought that from the beginning. Everyone who actually follows him and/or the Vikes know he is coming back as soon as they leave dorm life at training camp. (Disclaimer: Huge Brett fan.) Players (Peterson, Allen) have confirmed that they got texts from Brett telling them "this is it." Link? Not being a smart a## but I looked and couldn't find anything like that.

  10. Cringing would imply that it matters right? Isn't it actually a good thing with the improved draft status and all?
  11. Get swept, I want some people fired and a better draft pick for the new GM.
  12. Why was that Colvin ranting not stopped by the mods?? That was ridiculous and this thread was nearly impossible to follow for those of us who didn't want to read 5 pages on Tyler Colvin. You have strong opinions that you think highly of... we get it. But this thread is for the 2010 Cubs Draft Picks.
  13. This thread has turned to shear brilliant unintentional comedy. Brightened my day.
  14. April Rose Haydock, definitely nice.
  15. I draw the line at sausage races. What I don't get is why people are so against this from a historical prospective. If they had the ability to make money off it and the ability to produce it, they would have put this sign up in the 1920s.
