I did have a question in terms of when a transaction takes place. Do I start getting the other guys HR's immediately once I post the transaction, the following day it goes into effect or once you see it and make the change. I don't care either way but just would like to know.

The Mavs and Nuggets series are shocking me. The Spurs and Jazz were the two best teams in the West over the last two months of the season, so it's not completely surprising to me. Not to mention that the difference between the 2 seed and the 8 seed was what, 4 games? The Jazz series is surprising to me because of their injuries which I thought would give the series to the Nuggets. The games I have seen from that series leave me saying one team makes all the adjustments and has good game plans and the other team doesn't. The Nuggets aren't playing well and while it's not just because Karl is not there that does have a lot to do with it. The Mavs I thought were the most likely team to make it to the Finals out of the West. It's not that surprising but Rick Carlisle is getting out coached in that series. Carlisle's teams always seem to come up short of their potential in the playoffs.

I think it's safe to say that Sam Fuld will never be the starting CF on a regular basis for the Cubs. If Colvin continues to hit he could end up starting in RF. Never say never Assume that we resign Ramirez to an extension, and then sign a big bopper like Adrian Gonzalez or Prince Fielder to a huge deal after Lee, Lilly, Byrd, and Fukudome are gone and off the books.Couple that with the hopes that Soriano and Soto continue to hit, Colvin turns out to be a solid hitter, and Castro is as advertised. I think that that would afford ourselves the luxury of using Fuld at leadoff or hiding him at the 8 spot until Brett Jackson is ready. Dew pointed out the biggest issue with this post but I also take issue with Fuld having any shot at being a leadoff hitter.

Sounds to me like he never signed a deal. If he had, the 49ers would have been able to just hang onto him and make him sit. At any rate, I think the agent is more to blame here than anyone for not doing his due diligence to find the best place for his client. I really don't think Blount was the guy fielding phone calls and going over contract details. That very well may be true. His agent is probably more to blame. I seriously doubt the 49ers would have forced him to honor the contract though. They probably would have just let him out of it. He isn't going to make either team anyway and will be playing in the Arena League before long. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Arena Football doesn't really use slow, power backs.

It's no different then saying what you expect a hitter's HR's to be or something along those lines. it's way different, considering HRs are something a player can control. it's pointless to predict wins when so much of it is luck Agreed. What I meant by that is that they are two relatively meaningless stats by themselves. Wins by itself can generally show over the course of a career a good pitcher but in one season or even two, bad pitchers can get lucky and good pitchers can get unlucky. Likewise HR's can show generally who is a good power hitter but guys can have fluke years where they have more than normal or a lot less than normal. While over the course of many seasons they may be somewhat decent indicator they really aren't good and there are much better options. All of that is pretty common knowledge and I am sure you know it already but that was what I meaning. The reason I responded to Omar's post was that someone who says he expects a certain amount of wins shouldn't be jumped all over as if he said wins are some all important stat. He was merely saying he thinks with this team and Wells talent he expects him to get around that many wins. I'm sure he understands that Wells can get unlucky or lucky and end up with a different amount but 14-15 is about what a pitcher with his talent should get. Criticizing him for mentioning wins seems a bit much to me.

The best thing that could happen is the Cubs win the division and the Brewers finish second. That's not going to happen but I remember him saying a couple years ago that he will stay in St. Louis as long as they remain a contender.

How do I cope? With football in August-February. Once football gets going I can live with the Cubs sucking.

That has a lot to do with growing up pretty close to Chicago and thus having a good amount of friends who are White Sox friends. That said I am OK with interleague play ending. Don't really care one way or the other. Didn't you grow up in West Lafayette? As someone who grew up in the south suburbs at 183rd and halsted, I find this very amusing. Yes. Sure it's not the suburbs. That would be extremely close to Chicago. West Lafayette is 2 hours from Chicago and is dominated by Chicago sports. I also went to Chicago a half a dozen times every summer growing up (more than Indy).

Jim Thome is to blame for that. He was stuck in the minors for a couple years past when they thought Howard was ready because they had Thome in his prime.

This is simply inexcusable. I will protest by boycotting the site. The boycott will coincide with the down time and everyone is welcome to join me.

Rivalry trophies only work in in college football and that is only because they have a long history. What has always been done? It's interleague regular season baseball. It's barely existed, and it's not like this trophy actually means anything outside of empty symbolism and bragging rights. I'm talking about rivalries in general not one specific case with the White Sox. Rivalries in baseball don't have traveling trophies and shouldn't.

Am I the only one that is putting most of the blame on the Ricketts family. I am overall very happy with them but they seem like they are throwing tradition out the window in favor of making more money. They say they will put all profits into the team but somethings aren't worth ruining just to make a bit more money. I'm not sure this is one of those things because I don't care too much one way or the other. I don't like the idea of creating a trophy just so we can sell sponsorship which seems to be what they have done.
