  1. Why's that gross? I wouldn't want to be the one to pay for him after he had a career year to over-inflate his value. If I could pay for him as a 2.5-3 war player, sure. If he's going to be valued as a 5+ war guy? No way. I don't believe he's that guy going into this 30's. Perhaps the Cubs are trying to cash in on another former SC Gamecock ala JBJr. and Steve Pearce and the pixie dust that follows them! :D
  2. I saw an article a few days ago about the BOSOX showing interest in Abreu from the ChiSOX in exchange for JBJr. Said the BOSOX were looking for more power. What are y'alls thoughts on swapping Schwarber for JBJr? I've always been a huge JBJr. fan after watching him play his college ball here, and I lobbied for the Cubs going after him instead of signing Heyward but was thrilled just the same when Heyward signed.
  3. IMO, not having to FACE Chapman in the playoffs or the WS is the part of this deal that can't be measured but could very well be the most valuable part of it.
  4. Yeah, I was interested in hopefully buying low, as the kids might say, and he fit. I'm very excited/interested to see who they do end up getting in the OF, if anyone, after Fowler. There's a player in the Blue Jays org I am kinda interested in buying low on, not necessarily for this deadline, but no need to really go into any kind of depth since there's probably nothing doing in the end. I wanted the Cubs to go after JBJr. before they signed Heyward..... :(
  5. I have seats in left center, section 146R, row 16, seats 3&4.
  6. I did a party for about 10 people at 3627 Sheffield back in Aug. 2007, Cubs vs. Mets, that was a lot of fun. It was the summer before Noah's first season with the Bulls and he was there with another group. My daughter, who was 8 at the time, was enamored with him and kept bringing him food and drinks.
  7. Yes he will Raisin, and I'll be there watchin. Hope my Gamecocks fair well against him. :D
  8. Bradley looks like he has reverse splits. .307/.390/.528 vs lefties .221/.308/.483 vs righties That's pretty interesting because I recall from his college playing days that he was pretty good against both, hitting for both average and power. He was an extremely likeable kid when he played for the Gamecocks and a clear fan favorite. Certainly would not be a clubhouse problem sort of player.
  9. When my daughter got JBJ's autograph his last year at SC, I told him I would love to see him roaming CF at Wrigley some day. :yahoo:
  10. No. While I would love to add a bat like Tulowitzki's, Tulowitzki has been injured too much in the past four years to be worth the risk of paying $98mil over the next 5. Tulowitzki would be worth trading some lesser prospects, but the risk of him missing significant amount of time is too high. Tulowitzki, by the way, not whatever the hell you wrote. Fixed
  11. How about a straight up trade with the Rockies, Castro for Tulowitzki? The Rockies are in last place and will be sellers. Tulowitzki is signed thru 2020 plus a mutual option for 2021. He turns 31 in October. He is OPsing .819 this year to Castro's .640. Rockies get a 25 year old SS to replace TT with a team friendly contract and shed payroll even if they agree to take on some of TT's remaining deal. Discuss.
  12. Theo's last draft in Boston. I would love to see Jackie Bradley, Jr. in Cubbie Blue! \:D/
  13. Any interest? His line so far is .245 era, 54/20 K/BB, .220 BAA, 1.06 WHIP. He apparently had 5-6 quality starts before his last one. He is signed to a 1 yr $5mil deal.
  14. Just did my 35.
  15. Braves get Uribe & RH RP Chris Withrow, Dodgers get Callaspo, Ian Thomas, Stults, & Juan Jaime.
