  1. Dear ESPN, Get the effing draft ticker at the bottom.
  2. 49ers war room getting very active. Earlier they were just sitting and watching the TV. About 10 minutes ago Singletary and Baalke started debating back and forth while looking at the board. Now all the scouts are in the room and talking with Baalke and Singletary.
  3. Jones being durable for 5 years should actually be a red flag. This isn't MLB, it's the NFL, all running backs are injury prone. That is about the dumbest thing I have ever read. All RB's are injury prone because they are all the same. Right. No, they're all injury prone because they have 11 200-350 pound men trying to hit them as hard as they can every [expletive] play. I understand your logic but it is well not logical. Sure RB's have a higher instance of injuries but to say like you did that Jones and Charles will not stay healthy simply because they are RB's makes no sense. A majority of RB's stay healthy. People are different. Reggie Bush is Reggie Bush and not Thomas Jones or anyone else. If someone has a track record of being healthy they are generally going to remain healthy.

  5. That's why they pretty much drafted McCluster as Reggie Bush. If they used him like Reggie Bush there wouldn't be enough carries to go around between Jones, Charles and McCluster. Plus Charles is a very good receiving back. He had 40 catches last season in the half season of starting. There will be plenty of touches to go around. Jones/Charles won't be healthy all year and McCluster will be returning kicks/punts and lining up in the slot. And Tampa Bay trades up... Neither Jones nor Charles are particularly injuring prone. Charles has had a few injuries but generally has been able to play if I am not mistaken and Jones has been one of the most durable RB's for the past 5 years.
  6. Do it Oakland. Take Jimmy. If they do Andy will likely shoot JaMarcus in an assassination attempt. He already despises the guy enough to hope it happens. If Jimmy goes Oakland he may make it happen.

  8. Twitter buzz is that they intend on using McCluster as a WR/KR more than as a RB. Percy Harvin type perhaps. Ah. That makes a lot more sense. Charles isn't a big RB. He's not small either but is more of a slasher from what I know. Pairing him with Thomas Jones is a great pairing. McCluster being a WR, which he said he is 100% fine being, is a good pick.
  9. Jamaal Charles had 1,100+ yards and a 5.9 yards per carry last year. He didn't get the ball much at all until 6-7 games into the season. In the last eight games he had 5 games over 100 yards including each of the last four games. He had 968 yards in the final 8 games and only got 20+ carries in half the games.
  10. Not a bad pick but Jamaal Charles broke out last year and they seem to be moving away from him. Not sure it makes much sense. Remember they got Thomas Jones now too. Jamaal Charles if I am not mistaken lead the league in the second half of the season in rushing yards other than obviously Chris Johnson. He killed it and now they are going to not even use him.
  11. The 49ers have a live feed to their draft room. I enjoy watching it to see if they start getting on the phones.
  12. There's the obvious Weiss connection, but Cassell has to be considered the long term solution still, and the Chiefs have so many other holes still. Hahaha. I'm a moron. Someone how forgot about Cassel. I'll go sit in the corner now.
  13. Acting 49ers GM on whether the 49ers would have gone up higher than No. 11 to get Anthony Davis. Yeah Jacksonville are [expletive] morons. They were given a chance to get a 4th rd pick and move down to 13 and refused to even listen.
  14. If KC passes on Clausen I will be in shock mode for his fall. Right now I'm not really surprised. I thought he would go higher but there was a lot of talk about some attitude issues so I am not surprised he fell.
  15. Welcome to the board! We need more people talking mechanics around here - there's plenty of us stat guys to go around. :) Yeah this is the exact post I was hoping for when I created the thread. I am not a mechanical guy and wanted someone to break down what Soto has done. Thanks Lumafia
  16. My guess is they would try to move one of them for a cheap average MR guy.
  17. Cubs should definitely get him. At the very least he is a near lock to be a better option than the last guy in our pen and has the chance to return to what he was a couple years ago which was a great reliever.
  18. If you think teams sat and said, "Well Carroll didn't take Mays at 14 and took a different safety and therefore Mays must not be very good," then you don't know how teams work. Teams are arrogant in their own opinions (just look at the Jags) and other teams opinions matter very little if at all. Every team evaluates the prospects on their own and they draft based on their opinions and not another teams coach. This is made pretty obvious every year by teams reaching for some guys and passing on others that the consensus says they should draft. Teams are not looking at what other teams are doing on draft day and adjusting their rankings based on who passes on who.
  19. Brandon Spikes in the 4th would be ridiculous. There's always a chance for someone to fall but that is two rounds lower than almost everyone says he is valued at.
  20. i'm truly sorry you had to go through this. I'm proud, humbled and touched to have your support as I go through this horrible time. Right now would be a good time for a MK run through.
  21. Worst Value- Tyson Alualu. While I like him, Jags could have had him w/ their 2nd round pick and Dan Williams is much better. They don't have a 2nd rd pick which is why they took him at 10. They figured he wouldn't last till their third. Still incredibly stupid. So many teams traded up so they could have traded down 2-3 times and loaded up on picks while still getting their guy.
  22. considering the quality of his hitting, this is pretty sad. He was probably still an average defensive catcher when younger but killed it when hitting against the scrubs that he went against. I don't think catching gets harder when you get to the majors but hitting certainly does. I would assume a lot of catchers would think this because in high school or college they hit really well.
  23. most talked about white bronco since oj and ac (i cant take credit for that, heard it on twitter) Nice.
  24. Brees lasted until the first pick in the second round when he shouldn't have so it could work out for Clausen.
  25. Mays isn't really that similar to Sharper, I don't think. Sharper's strength is roaming the field and making plays and the biggest question about Mays is whether he can make plays on the ball. If they want to replace Sharper they should have traded up for Berry or Thomas. Just because they don't play a similar doesn't mean Mays can't fill the void left by Sharper. They need a S not necessarily a Sharper clone. Sharper's a big reason they were so good defensively last year and he had that good a year because he fits the defensive scheme so well. Mays doesn't fit the scheme nearly as well, so picking him would be changing a lot of what made your defense good. Agreed but like I said if the read is Sharper won't be returning they have to get a replacement. Mays is a great athlete with the potential to do great and is better than anyone else out there.
