  1. I believe Manny was on a fertility drug last year as well.
  2. This constant complaining about the way, form, timing, and/or substance of other posters' posts gets real tiresome real fast. Kind of the point of a message board. People state opinions and others refute or agree with that opinion. People criticizing a player for not hitting when he is hitting is dumb no matter how you slice it. Sorry I didn't realize I'm not allowed to be annoyed when people complain about things that aren't a problem. You act like he has been on sort of tear...His number's are not spectacular. He's OPSing .879 the last two weeks and over 1.000 the past week. EDIT: It doesn't matter how much someone posts here. You brought it up. I could careless.
  3. I also explained why I don't...When I'n home I do, but thats rare. I have a job that keeps me away alot. I'll be gone for the whole season, but from the looks of this team I won't be missing much. You might be better off not seeing the Cubs than the rest of us that will suffer through the ineptitude.
  4. You act like we never post here...Yeah youre right, Soriano is the greatest of all time. His all around game is terrible for the money he gets. He needs to learn how to play the game of baseball. Ask Brenly how he feels about Soriano.... 560 posts in 7 years. Yeah I would say you don't post here very much. Has Soriano been living up to his contract? Hell no. Has he sucked at the the plate this year? No. Therefore people criticizing him as a hitter is moronic. Oh and I forgot what Brenly thinks is gospel. Thanks for reminding me. Well excuse me for defending this country and spending a majority of my time over in Iraq and Afghanistan. I will be heading back again in 3 weeks. You have no idea what other people do...try thinking before you open your mouth. I have spent 17 years in the Air Force defending freedoms you enjoy...so keep on enjoying. Good day sir First off thanks for serving. I think everyone here appreciates it. However you said I act like you never post here and you don't.
  5. None of those schools excite me. Mizzou would be sweet for the rivalry with Illinois, but academics are an issue for it and Nebraska. I also can't see Nebraska tossing aside it's old Big 8 Rivalries in football. Plus they add nothing in terms of television. I really don't see the benefit of either Big 12 school, unless it is to get the conference to 16. And Bum, you are right. I probably shouldn't have quoted you, I was just laying out my best case scenario for the conference. Yeah Delany said from the start that they won't add just to add so I really don't see the Rutgers. They bring very little to the plate. Nebraska is possible but I would put them as one of the favorites. Missouri is definitely one of the favorites to join whether that is adding 1, 3 or 5 teams.

  8. I love all the people deciding post right now criticizing Soriano for his hitting when he is one of the few actually hitting right now.
  9. Read our posts again. We were talking about Texas and Oklahoma going to the SEC in the scenario the Big XII is raided. SEC doesn't care too much about academics.
  10. The natural rivalries is a big thing, I think. Outside of Arkansas, there's just no established rivalries for either team. I agree, though, this is just throwing around ideas right now. I agree the natural rivalries are a big thing but getting two teams like Texas and Oklahoma isn't something any conference would turn down. They both have strong followings, bring in lots of money, are very good in the big sports and bring one of the best rivalries with them. The whole problem with this is not Texas and Oklahoma, its Texas and A&M. Texas isn't going anywhere unless A&M is going. The Oklahoma rivalry is great, but there is no way I can see Texas parting ways with A&M. If the Big Ten can secure a commitment from ND, I think the Texas scenario becomes a whole lot more likely. A&M would make 14 teams, and then you can throw in Pitt and one of Rutgers or Syracuse. Much like ND will schedule USC out of conference Texas will continue to schedule Oklahoma each year. This is just me throwing crap against the wall right now, but I think financially this would be the biggest win for the conference. If Texas can agree to just schedule Oklahoma every year as a non-conference they can do the same with A&M.
  11. I don't think you can serve while on the DL, at least with short team suspensions. I remember there was a big argument about Kerry Wood back in 04 and how he was injured and still had to serve 5 games after he was healthy enough to pitch. I think Barrett had the same issue back in 06 after decking AJ Eyechart. I don't think theres a way to prove or enforce that but I think if it's sketchy timing, the league is going to be on you for it. The easy workaround for that would be to declare he is now healthy enough to pitch and activate him. Sure if that was legal but I am pretty sure that once you are placed on the DL you must remain out for at least that number of days. I know a player can stay on the DL for a longer period of time but I almost certain they can't come off early. You can also retroactively move someone from the 15 day to the 60 day but not visa versa.
  12. wonder what the hell he is referring to. Dusty ruined him by using him too much. Can't get it done anymore without help.
  13. Instead of banning PEDs, we should just ban hispanics and alieviate 98% of the problem, amirite? Edit: BTW, this was sarcasm I just wish Jaydee was here to back me up.
  14. Agreed, this is the part I'm noticing. He's striking out swinging at a ridiculous rate (for him) and not really taking anything. That's part of it but the biggest thing to me is that he is continually missing on the pitches he normally crushes. That is more alarming to me than bad discipline. I think it is easier for someone to stop swinging at bad pitches than get their swing to get the ball squarely. Right now he isn't really doing anything well so there is a list of things someone can notice as a problem.
  15. All these Hispanics are ruining MLB. Manny and now Edison. I want to go back to the good ole days.
  16. None of us are that lucky. It's Silva. Has to be.
  17. Using +/- is a bad stat if you use it in this way. It is however a great stat if you are comparing a set of players on teams of similar talent. Daryl Morey supposedly uses this stat heavily. However, I've read he goes really deep with it. He doesn't look at overall +/- for a person. Instead he looks at +/- in comparison to others on his team and others playing similar roles on teams that are relatively equal to each other. That will show you whether or not the guy helps his team. Yeah I've actually read about that. And how he measures rebounders more effectively, something about team rebounds with a certain guy in the game. Don't remember, but Morey knows what he's doing. It's rebounding rate that he loves and he talks about it a lot on facebook. Rebounding rate is the percentage between number of rebounds and number of chances for rebounds. This helps account for a guy having low rebounding totals because he is on a team that doesn't miss much or plays very slow and for a guy who has inflated rebounding totals because his team sucks or they play with a quick tempo. He posted in January saying Scola was the league leader in defensive rebound rate. I ask him how he calculated it and that is what he said. Hollinger then posted saying Morey was indeed correct on Scola and that he was very surprised by it. So basically what I am saying is I love my GM because he is a genius.
  18. Maybe I just haven't noticed it before because he gets contact. That could be why I'm seeing it that way. That said people most certainly can change their swings to hit more HR's. That is not to say everyone will change when they want to hit a HR or even that most do but plenty of people have changed their swings for more HR's. Jones made a switch in his swing that lead to the 50+ HR season. Vlad used to change his swing constantly depending on where the ball was located. Heck I even remember DLee in 2005 saying one of the coaches made an suggestion that he took and that has allowed him to hit more HR's because he is able to get the ball more often to LF than left-center.

  20. No one thinks that is case. I will take a PG who averaged 17 pts and 9 assists over a PG who is averaging 21 pts and 6 assists. Those three extra assists generates at least 6 more points for the team which means the 17-9 guy accounts directly for more points. This obviously isn't everything. Turnovers, shooting percentages and all the other stuff factor in heavily.
  21. True. It would be one thing if it seemed like his timing was off, but he's basically just flailing at everything thrown his way. I would agree I am more concerned than anything but his approach is off which sometimes takes awhile for people to change. Like I said earlier he is swinging for a HR every time and allowing his swing to miss a lot because he isn't controlling where the bat ends up very well. I think he may benefit a lot from being given 2 games off and have him watch tape of his AB's this season. My guess is BP doesn't help much because he can actually get good contact against the meatballs thrown in BP. I don't know what it means to say he's swinging for a HR. Aramis always swings the bat really hard, whether he's lining balls off the wall, hitting HR or popping out to shallow right center. Have you watched the games? Honestly curious because it's pretty easy to see that is what he is doing. Swinging hard is one thing. Swing so hard that you lose your balance half the time is another. I have also noticed a lot of swings are rising a lo at the end indicating he is trying to golf it. Guys like Andruw Jones have swings like that. It's an all or nothing swing that leads to a lot of K's and a low contact rate. I have every bit of confidence that Aram will shortly adjust and be back to his normal self but right now his swing is off.
  22. I haven't seen a whole lot of Cavs since they got Mo Williams but before they got him LeBron played like a PG. He brought the ball up and started the offense as much or more than most PG's did. There is/was a strong argument for classifying LeBron as a PG because his role on the team was what would normally be called a PG.
  23. I'm not sure this is a list of PG's in terms of skill. Paul being fourth on any list I would means taking injuries into account. Curry is a PG in my eyes, Evans is more like Wade.

  25. How about this. Instead of saying he is at this moment a top 5 PG in terms of skill why don't you actually put a top 5 list out there. No one has done this. I think someone of you when you are actually forced to look stuff up would at the very least see it is not ridiculous to have him outside the top 5. I can see arguments for having him just inside the top 5 but to me he is in the next group. Saying it is ridiculous to have him outside the top 5 screams of ignorance and no research. There are a lot of great PG's right now and depending on what you prefer in a PG there are a lot of ways to go. I much prefer a more traditional PG. I want a PG who is going to create for everyone more than someone who can be a dynamic scorer. That hurts Rose's value and is why a guy like Kidd and his above him for me.
