  1. This is just getting to be a joke. Why I am not laughing
  2. Nobody thought that Crabtree and Maclin would be the 2nd and 3rd WRs taken last year but Al Davis made it happen. Very true, but none of these recievers are crazy fast :-). It all depends on the teams and what else falls. From what I have read some are very high on Dez and have him in the top 10 but a good amount of teams really don't like his work ethic and attitude and thus have him not even in the top 30. It all depends on what the first team who has nothing fall to them that they want more than WR thinks.
  3. Considering the Cowboys never trade up that alone would be a surprise to me. I would rather trade up to get Dez Bryant but Thomas would make more sense from a need stand point. Since Jerry Jones bought the team they have been one of the most active teams in draft day trades. I read somewhere today that Dallas has made 51 draft day trades since Jones bough the team in '89. I don't know how many of those trades resulted in the Cowboys moving up but I would guess a good amount of them were. They are very active, but I would say that a very high majority were trading down to get extra picks. Jones loves having extra picks. Very well could be true. I don't know one way or the other but what I do know is Jones is known as the top wheeler and dealer and is almost always open to trading to get what he wants whether that is down or up. I will never be surprised by the fact they made a trade on draft day. I may be surprised by how much they give up or how much they get in the trade but not surprised by the fact they are making a deal.

  5. Plus the no Bears anything in the first round. huh? that sentence doesn't even make sense The Bears have no first round pick and aren't likely, at least in my opinion, to be involved in trading up into the first round. Therefore Bears fans won't have anything to be excited for in the first round.
  6. Plus the no Bears anything in the first round.
  7. I'm sure this thread will likely turn into a general Soto discussion thread. Figured I would lead it off with that has been the most intriguing to me.
  8. Agreed but he is on pace to double his career high in walks. Not likely to keep up but seems a good bet to set a new career high. He's also on pace to more than double his career total in walks.
  9. "Who the hell is that?"
  10. I'm not big into watching closely people's approaches at the plate. I'm curious if anyone has noticed a significant change in Soto's approach. I don't know all the sites that will show specific stuff like the type of pitches he is swinging at and laying off. If I am not mistaken he is hitting .333 which is great but I'm not as curious about that because it's a relatively low sample size. I am more so interested in what he is doing differently to have the 12 walks, above .500 OBP and pace of 100+ walks. Anyone know this stuff already or know where to get the info on the specifics? Also everyone is obviously free to post thoughts and opinions.
  11. Not sure what the opposing coach is arguing.
  12. Isn't that about when he got hurt?
  13. Yeah I watched this earlier today and it is awesome. I always applaud people forgetting about all the possible wrongs and just cut loose and have fun.
  14. Because you have other guys in the bullpen desperate for pitching time in low leverage situations. The Cubs need to capitalize on those. Besides, it's usually not a bad idea to make sure the opposing team doesn't have a chance to adjust to a reliever if he's given you a good inning, especially if it's a pitcher without overwhelming stuff. It's not like he had to go back out there because the bullpen was taxed or because the lead was close. In short, there was no need to send him back out there. He's a reliever, he got you your three outs, you have other guys that need to pitch; pick someone else. We were desperate for a win. The lead wasn't so big I would feel fully safe putting in one of the others. We needed to get some positive going before things imploded.
  15. Agreed. When Aramis heats up move him up to 4th and Sori to 6th behind Soto who is walking at a ridiculous rate so far.
  16. Very conflicted with this pick. Ideally I think the Cardinals want a CB but with 6 going in this round including 4 in the last 7 picks there just isn't value left. They got a steal with JPP in the first and that will really help the LB core. So I am going with a pick that many will probably scratch their heads at but it fits their draft profile and is a tremendous value pick. Demaryius Thomas WR - Georgia Tech Many will wonder why they would go WR but Thomas is considered by many to be the No. 2 WR in the draft and a possible late first pick. They have more of a need elsewhere but this is the most value out there and WR is a still a small need for them with Boldin gone.
  17. Ugh. I officially want to go to some Cubs games and instead of being the outfield sit right behind the dugout and berate Lou.
  18. Weren't the results of the rape kit from the hospital inconclusive? Maybe she had sex willingly and then decided later that it was a mistake and claimed rape. The DA said there wasn't enough evidence to charge him with a crime, right? Because the police involved effectively bungled the investigation. And why would she claim rape just because she thought sleeping with him was a "mistake?" i kind of feel like the white guy talking about the black community here, but it happens. Not so much that it's a girl that thinks "oh that was dumb. MAYBE ILL JUST SAY HE RAPED ME." I'm trying to think of a way to put this gently. Obviously sexuality and sexual identity or whatever effects each gender differently. i know girls that chase down sex like a drunken 19-year old boy but afterward hate themselves for it. whether there's abuse in their background, i don't know. but it wouldn't shock me. there was a girl im friends with that talked for months about how hot a friend of mine was and how much she wanted to sleep with him. it was such common knowledge that we joked about it in front of both of them. but when it finally happened, weeks later she started telling people he raped her. Obviously he didn't, i was there that night. She just has weird sexual issues. I'm not saying this is what happened here, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that something similar took place. thank god someone else has to decide (or not decide) what happened Oh, and Dixon will start in pittsburgh. leftwich is insurance in case he sucks Who is No. 2 between Batch and Leftwich? I don't think Pittsburgh knows that right now. Batch was considered the No. 2 behind Big Ben if I am not mistaken but why trade for someone who is a stop gap No. 3 for at most 6 weeks?
  19. I'm assuming this is just some joke I'm not getting, but McNabb was traded to the Redskins. Well, I did ask if I was just dreaming, so I'm not sure why you would think this was some sort of joke you weren't getting. I thought it was some joke at first. He was rumored to be going to Oakland the whole time he was on the market and considering that ESPN covered the trade for 24 hours straight I figured you would have known. Not trying to offend you or anything. I have no idea how closely you follow the NFL but I just didn't think someone who cared to post in this thread would have it wrong like that. I thought it was some joke about Oakland always going after any QB on the market that just didn't work well.
  20. Seriously? This happens all the time. happens all the time? I wouldn't say it happens all the time but it does happen occasionally, normally with alcohol heavily involved. However, I think there is a very big difference between someone who doesn't know her limits and then hooks up and regrets it and a girl who is bought drinks all night and then hookups
  21. I would agree with that. The top handful of guys have seperated themselves. The reason this class is considered deep is that there are going to be 10 or so guys taken outside of the 1st rd that would in most years be 1st rd picks. I think after the mid-2nd rd the class is pretty run of the mill in terms of talent.
  22. I doubt Earl Thomas is available at that pick and if he is the 49ers would be smart to take him.
  23. Buy a woman and all her friends a bunch of drinks, wait until they are good and drunk, have your body guard who is a cop grab one and lead her away from her friends and then procede to have sex with her while your body guards refuse to allow her friends come to stop it is wrong whether she said yes or not. To me it's just slightly better than a guy who slips a date rape (there's a reason the word rape is used) drug in a drink to get the girl to consent.
  24. The Steelers could just as easily use the top 10 pick on something other than QB and then take Tebow or McCoy (or Clausen if he falls) with their second 1st rd pick. As for the suspension I would say without proof a 6-8 game suspension is just about right. 4-6 is OK but if it gets reduced to 2 games then it is a joke.
  25. All I know is it is almost almost 1:30 am and no game should end that late no matter where it is played.
