Steve Phillips was just on Espn with some interesting tidbit. Supposedly according to Philips the Cubs might not offer arbitration to Wood, he still thinks Wood will remain with the cubs at the end of the day. He's also reporting that the Cubs are having inner discussions about exercising Harden's option.

On the a side he believes the recent signing of Luis Salazar will fill the cubs void in left field.

??? Wood just signed with the Indians yesterday.

[/sarcasm]

Did he, man i didnt realize that. I guess Philips might be off with his sources. I do believe him when he says that CC might resign with the Indians though, i mean that seems likely.

Only 1/3 of the way to Brian Roberts thread territory.

2/3 actually.

The Brian Roberts thread was 300 pages. You may be counting the other Peavy thread that got locked though.

a collective 0.4 for this thread's comedy.

A zero for anyone who thinks it's still funny to rate jokes.

I don't know if I like having to trade Dero to get Peavy. Peavy is wonderful and all. But Dero is a very good 2nd baseman and utility guy. Plus like Kerry Wood, I just like his attitude.

I think Fontenot plus a right-handed platoon complement pretty much balances out what we can expect from DeRosa

I hate giving up DeRo too, but he's 34 and almost certainly won't be back after this coming season (his contract is up and he'll likely regress).

So, is it worth one less year of Mark DeRosa to obtain five years of Jake Peavy? I hate trading DeRosa, but the answer is yes.
