I thought the cubs were close to signing Bradley?

But if they are close to trading for someone, why not Felix Pie and pitching prospect for Hermida?

They have Maybin. I doubt they want Pie.

I'm pretty sure you don't need the first sentence of those two to make the second one true.

I almost posted the exact same thing, then I noticed I initially misread the post as saying Pierre and not Pie. Pie's still not a bad prospect, but his star is definitely fading.

Pretty much. We held on to him too long.

Just finished my last final of the semester. I now have a week to lounge in chicago before I go home and start working over X-mas break. This day already rocks.

C'mon Hendry, make it rock more.

because the Marlins' asking price is higher than that

Their initial asking price was two good pitching prospects. The DRays disengaged after balking at the initial offer, and no one has jumped in with an appropriate offer. I think they'll lower their demands, but only a little bit, and they'll end up keeping him. Florida is one of those teams that overvalues its players. Remember how they held the line on what they wanted for Pierre? They got three good pitching prospects for him.

Maybe Rich Hill and Mark Pawalek are considered good pitching prospects

I miss the days Rich Hill wasn't the punchline of jokes, but rather a productive ML pitcher.

Current SportsCenter (radio) update: Talks getting "heavier", supposedly 3 teams and 7 players total...

Latest update on ESPN 1000 said that a three team trade for the Cubs to get Peavy are getting "Sweaty" with the Padres/Cubs/Phillies. I don't know if I have ever heard "sweaty" used in that context but it has to be good right?

Hill still has ST to prove he has something left. His winter ball results give me zero hope, however.

Ah well.

What the hell?

I could see sweaty being good or bad. It's either so hot it's sweaty or things are starting to fall apart, a la a nervous sweat.

jesus, you know you're too obsessed when you're trying to define "sweaty"

Heavy and sweaty?

Sounds like Hendry is doing what one must do to seal the deal, even if it means never again looking the mirror and not shedding a tear of shame.

Wait...heavy and sweaty? I thought it was just sweaty.

If it's heavy and sweaty, Hendry's just eating lunch.

I wrote heavier because when I went to type "sweaty" I just assumed I heard it wrong because I couldn't imagine why in the world one would describe baseball trade talks as "sweaty"

Sounds like the same thing.

Wait, wouldn't this be the perfect time for a.. Hendry does not want to announce the trade today because of Sabathia signing with the Yankees on the same day.

Doubtful :)

He seemed to almost plan to announce the Harden trade to upstage the Brewers acquiring CC last year.
